*ELI'S POV*
I jolted awake, breathing heavily and sweating slightly from that nightmare. Or was it a nightmare? I turned my head and saw... Anna. Still unconscious, heart monitor attached and IV drip plugged in. I sighed in relief. She's still ok. Still safe. I quickly checked the date on my phone. December 8th. Only three weeks since Anna got hurt. My fists clenched. If only I'd been quicker, gotten there sooner... I'd only turned back because she'd forgotten her phone in my car, but I wasn't in a hurry. I should've been. I knew that my Hellcat's roar had frightened him off, but if I ever caught the bastard that did this... Well, he wouldn't be alive much longer. I clutched Anna's hand in my own protectively. I wouldn't let anyone hurt her again. I heard the door creak open and the doctor walked in. "Mr. Eli Bradbury?" I nodded.
"Yeah?"
"You're going to have to leave for a while. Visiting hours are over." I nodded once more.
"Ok. I'll be back at the same time tomorrow." I got up and looked at the doctor for the first time. He seemed... familiar somehow... I stopped. "Do I know you from somewhere?" He shrugged.
"You might've seen me in passing around the hospital."
"Oh yeah, that would make sense. Ok, same time tomorrow." I walked out of the room and got halfway down the hallway when it hit me. I did know him. I'd seen him many times in passing, but not here. At school. I'd seen him up close once when I knocked him off of Anna. And he wore a mask, but I could still see the bruise from my punch. That wasn't a doctor. It was the man who put Anna in here. And I'd just left him alone with her. Without giving it a second thought, I ran back to Anna's room.
