*ANNA'S POV*
After Eli's parents left, I turned to him and rested my hand on top of his. "Eli? Can I ask you something kind of personal?"
"Yeah, of course. What's up?" I took a deep breath.
"What are your parents like?" He sighed.
"Um, well, my mom is a very kind-hearted person. She takes care of me whenever I'm sick or injured and she supports me, even with my rebellious behavior. I love her. She's my mom, so how could I not? My dad is... aggressive. He's a bit of a jerk, but-"
"Eli," I cut him off. "Tell me the truth. I can see it in your mom's body language. It mirrors mine with Alex. Please. You can tell me anything." He nodded.
"My dad is an asshole. He's an abusive alcoholic dick that only cares about himself. He beats my mom. He has as long as I can remember. I lost count of the hits that I've taken just so she won't have to. I only stood up to him once. He almost killed me for it, too. Anymore, I don't stand up yo him, but I take as many hits as I can for my mom. If I got the chance, I would kill him. Anna, I would kill him, and I wouldn't feel a thing. No remorse, no guilt, hell, I'd let the cops catch me if it meant my mom would be free." I nodded.
"I can't say I fully understand, but I can see where you're coming from. I also wouldn't advise murder, because you being in jail won't help your mom. She'd be losing two people at once, and have lost two children in total. But if you want me to help, I can help your mom out. I'll talk to her if you want. I have experience with what she's going through. I'll help her." Eli smiled.
"Thank you."
