*JAMES' POV*

"Okay. I'll tell you." My head snapped up and I looked at Amelia.

"Please do. I'm listening." She took a deep breath before speaking.

"A few years back, I met this guy. He was funny, smart, kind-" I cut her off.

"He was rich, wasn't he?" She glared at me, turning red. "Of course. Go on." Amelia huffed angrily.

"Anyway. He and I started dating in secret, which felt wrong-" I chuckled lightly.

"Of course it felt wrong. It is wrong! It's called adultery and I'm pretty sure, actually, entirely sure that it's illegal, so..."

"If you don't stop interrupting me, I will hurt you." I grinned.

"Oh, but that's the problem, isn't it?"

"Problem? What are you talking about?" Amelia scoffed.

"You can't hurt me. You want to, and you say you're going to, but you can't."

"And why is that?"

"Because I have nothing to lose. At this point, you've taken everything I care about away from me. My son, the love of my live, my happiness, abd my free will. There's nothing left for you to take from me. All you can do is kill me. But at this point, that would be a kind thing of you to do, because I'm suffering more and more every day, living in my own personal hell, that I would welcome death with open arms and a smile. So, go ahead. Take the last remaining thing you can. My life. I don't care anymore." Amelia stood still, stunned into silence. A few seconds passed as a malicious smile crept onto her face.

"That's where you're wrong. I can take one last thing before you die. Your child's innocence. Wouldn't it be poetic if the person you helped bring into this world took you out of it in one fell swoop?" I felt my heart stop.

"You mean..."

"That's right. I'm not going to kill you, James. Your own son is."
