*ELI'S POV*
No sooner had I taken a step outside than Anna pulled me back into the living room. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold it. We're not going anywhere. Didn't you hear the police? They're doing what they can to get your mom back. By going out to look for her, you risk interfering with their search and losing her forever. Do you really want to risk that?" I sighed.
"No, but I wouldn't be doing any of that, since they don't know where my mom is. I know exactly where she is; with my father. They also don't know how abusive he is." Anna stared at me for a minute.
"You didn't tell them that?" I shook my head.
"No."
"Why not?! That's pretty vital information to finding your mom, and you kept it from the people trying to help find her?"
"Anna," I began, "you mentioned that I shouldn't interfere with their investigation by looking for her. But if I had told them about my father's abusive nature, they'd be swarming his house right now, which would interfere with my investigation. I'm going to his house to get my mom back. Stay here. It's much safer in a locked house than in close quarters with my father." Anna opened her mouth, as if to object, then closed it and sank back down on the couch.
"Ok. I'll stay. Just... please be safe. Bring your mom back home, but try to make sure it's not at the cost of your own life." I smiled and kissed the top of Anna's head.
"Don't worry. I'll be back before you even know I'm gone." I walked out the door, keys in hand. I got in my car and looked back at the house. Anna was standing in the doorway, watching me, looking slightly nervous. I sighed and started the car. I didn't want to think that this would probably be the last time I ever saw Anna again.
