*ANNA'S POV*
I stood in the doorway until Eli left, then closed the front door. I didn't bother to lock it as I headed up to my room. Yes, it was safer inside a locked house, but I had no intention of staying in it. I grabbed the keys to Eli's motorcycle; he'd asked a friend to bring it back to the house, then I went back downstairs. I sighed and began writing a note.
Eli, I'm sorry for what I have to do to you. I have to break your heart. I know your father wouldn't take your mom to his house. That would be too easy for him to be caught. I have an idea of where he may be going. He'd want somewhere isolated, away from people, and I think I know where. Alex used to take me there, and it brings back a lot of bad memories, but I refuse to let you get hurt. I won't tell you where or even hint to where it is. Please don't come looking for me; I can guarantee you won't find me. Besides, your mother needs you more. Take care of her and your future sibling for me. I promise I'll try to come back to you, but there may be no other option. I'm sorry I have to do this. And remember that I love you. You mean so much to me, so please don't blane yourself for my actions. Love, Anna.
I set the note on the living room table, where Eli would surely see it when he returned. I picked up the motorcycle keys and felt the weight of them in my hand. They seemed much heavier, but maybe that was the weight and intensity of what I was going to do. I walked out and got on the motorcycle, contemplating my choice. I quickly started it and sped down the street before I could talk myself out of this risky plan.
