*ANNA'S POV*
Eli was driving me back to the house in his Hellcat; he didn't trust me to go alone and he asked a friend to bring his motorcycle back. As we headed back, I noticed he was gripping the steering wheel so tightly I thought it might break. I took a deep breath. "Eli? Are... you ok?" He sighed heavily.
"I'm better now. Not quite as scared. I thought I was going to lose you, Anna. That thought terrifies me so much. I panicked. I got to my house as fast as I could and almost didn't make it." I let my head drop to face my lap. I knew it. He hated me now.
"Are you mad at me?" I asked tentatively. He shook his head.
"No, of course not. I'd probably do the same thing in your place. I'm not mad at you. If anything, I'm mad at myself for taking that chance and letting you leave without me in the first place. I should've called you out on lying about where you were going. But I didn't. And I risked your life in the process. Do me a favor," Eli said as we pulled up to the house. "Don't ever do anything like that again. Ok?" I nodded, though it was barely perceptible.
"Ok." I reached for the door, but Eli grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back.
"Do you promise?" He cupped my chin, forcing me to meet his eyes.
"Yes. I promise." His shoulders sagged, as if a huge weight had just been lifted off of them.
"Thank you." He released me, allowing me to get out and go inside. I walked into my room and opened a drawer. I took out the false bottom, revealing my stash of razor blades, bandages, peroxide, and stage makeup to provide quick and discreet coverage. I took one of the blades and headed to the bathroom, silently apologizing to Eli in advance for what I was about to do.
