"Would you please calm down?" I asked Hemming beside me. He was obviously feeling nervous about this. I can tell it by his looks and gestures. Para siyang natatae na iwan.
"Seryoso Xyriel? We are about to get jailed for life!" he answered in panic.
"The hearing isn't even starting. What's with the advance thinking? You're just stressing yourself," I answered back and lean on the chair to find a more comfortable position.
Damn this Congressman, he really likes messing around. I'm now imagining may father's face upon hearing this stuff. I'm dead.
Well, partially it's my fault cause I've asked Flame to handle this crap completely ignoring how he messes things up. Pssh, I should have told Blue instead. How stupid I am. But then, it has happened already. What more could I do?
Just quite wandering where they'd get such guts to do this. They aren't as brave as I recall.
Probably, someone is backing up their side. Pssh, should I regret having Deverine as my surname? I sometimes feel tired dealing with envious individuals.
"How could you act so normal in this kind of situation?" Hemming's voice pulled me out of my thoughts.
I looked at him with a fascinated expression. "What do you expect me to do? Cry, kneel down and beg? Chill will you?"
I handed him a bubble gum which he gladly accepted. That would make him calm down a bit.
The hearing has started and here I am feeling so sleepy. It was then that I tried concentrating on what the witness has to say. I glanced at the guy beside me, he looked so tense.
"Hey, should I get you a water or something?" I whispered on his ears. But he gave me glare as if I have said something wrong.
"Makinig ka nga. Kung gusto mo makulong. Pwes ako ayaw ko!"
"Who said we're getting jailed?" I replied and he just turned his back on me and focused on the people infront.
After a while, the room was filled with congratulations and happy faces shaking our hands.
I even saw Denim hugging Hemming as if they haven't seen each other for years.
Mom and Dad wasn't here but some of my uncles made it.
"How did you do that?" Hemming said as we are going out. Nasa tabi niya sina Liam na nakatingin rin sa akin.
"It isn't my fault that the other witness did not make it and it's obviously not my fault that the only witness who made it rephrased his statement," I told them.
"Come on Xyriel, drop it. Spill," Liam ordered. Oh, I forgot he was here.
"Nothing much to tell but like I said, if they have played fair, we will play fair. But they didn't and they are dealing with the experts," I told them. I saw them nodding slowly as if digesting every word that I have said.
"Well babe? Should this call for a celebration?" I feel someone's arm wrapped above my shoulder.
"Really Flame?" I gave him an expressionless stare. He automatically took of his hand.
