Chapter 15- Safe

Carter’s POV

I woke up 10 am, a brilliant sleep in, I really needed it. I rolled over to wrap my arm around Jai but he wasn’t there, just a note. I opened it and began reading. The words, made my heart quicken. I read through every word making sure this was real. It was.

As I finished the letter my eyes filled with tears of happiness. This boy is so special, and every word written in this letter proves that. I placed it under my pillow so it wouldn’t get ruined. I reached for my bikini and placed it on. I wandered through the bush, stopping at a few things that caught my eye. This forest is perfect. I made my way through the trees and then I reached the waterfall.

I spotted Jai sitting on a rock, shirtless with just his boardies on. One look at him and I was lost, my mind had gone. I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat and began to walk towards him. He stood up when he realised that I was here. We stood in front of each other for a moment.

“I got your letter.” I smiled at the thought of it.

“Was it too much?” He asked looking down slightly.

“No, of course not, I loved it. It actually made me cry.” I said.

Jai smiled like he was proud of himself.

“Want to go for a swim?” He questioned looking over to the lake than the waterfall.

“Sure.”

I grabbed Jai’s hand as he led me over to the water. We jumped in hand in hand. The water was freezing; it took my breath away as I hit the water. I let go of Jai’s hand as we both came to the surface. I quickly swum over to Jai and put my arm around him because I was so cold. His arm wrapped around my bare skin just above my bikini bottoms. He pulled me in closer to him and kissed me softly. I kissed him back and wrapped my arm around his head. We kissed for a few minutes before pulling away.

We smiled at each other in an awkward way.

“I’m going to go under the waterfall.” I said as I swum over to it.

I pulled myself up onto the rocks and stepped under the waterfall. The pressure was hard on my shoulders, but it felt nice. I let the water run through my hair and down my body. The water felt amazing, that was until I felt myself ‘leak’.

“Shit.” I whispered to myself.

I had forgotten all about my period. I had nothing. Jai and I needed to find a shop. I jumped back into the water and quickly swum to the other side.

“Where are you going?” Jai asked as he swum after me.

“Jai, we need to go find a shop.” I announced.

“Why?”

“Um, well this is awkward, but I have my period.” I stated.

“Ohh, let’s go then.” He replied.

We got out of the water and walked back to the tent. I chucked on a pair of jeans and a jumpers as did Jai. We headed out of the forest and go on a bus. We were on the bus for what seemed like forever, and I was starting to get bad cramps. I fidgeted in my seat, trying to get comfortable.

“There.” I said pointing out of the window to a shop.

“STOP THE BUS!” Jai bellowed.

The bus swerved and came to a stop. We leapt off of the bus and ran to the shop. I walked down each aisle trying to find pads and stuff.

“Jai how about you go get food.” I said.

“Okay.” He smiled and walked off.

I came to the aisle that I needed. I let out a sigh of relief because now I won’t bleed out the fucking tent. Jai and I paid for the food and everything.

“Do you have a toilet?” I quizzed.

“Yeah, just go outside and turn left and you will see it.” The lady said handing me the bathroom key.

Jai and I walked outside and over to the toilet. I told him to wait outside as I grabbed the tampons. I shut the door and did the stuff. I returned to Jai who was patiently waiting for me.

“Okay let’s g-“ I was cut off by someone yelling.

“OH MY GOD IT’S JAI BROOKS.” A girl yelled. “I THOUGHT HE RAN OFF.” She added.

“Fuck.” Jai whispered to himself. “No no I’m not Jai Brooks girls.” He added grabbing my hand and pulling me to the bus.

We jumped on it and set off back to the tent. Once we were there, I was so tired. I just wanted to go to bed and it was only 3pm. I told Jai that I was going to sleep.

I slid into the tent and pulled the sleeping bag over me. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. Half an hour past and I couldn’t sleep. But Jai soon came into the tent and wrapped his arms around my body and pulled me into his own. It was then that I fell asleep, because I felt safe.
