Chapter 11- It's Okay

Carter’s POV

After Jai had gone and I was thrown in my room, mum came in and yelled at me. She told me I was worthless and that Jai is a Glenroy scum, and has no place on this planet. All she did was yell at me, I didn’t get a chance to have my say. When she left she told me I have to stay in my room, I wasn’t allowed unless she said I was. She even bolted my door so I couldn’t leave.

After she was gone, I let the tears fall down my cheeks. I fell to the floor and my tears were uncontrollable. I tried to wipe them away but they kept falling.

I pulled myself up off of the floor and over to my bed. I slid under the covers, completely forgetting that I had my day clothes on. I closed my eyes and tried to get some sleep. But all I dreamt about was the argument. I dreamt that my mum would never talk to me again and that I would never leave my room again. I dreamt that I starved until death. But what scared me the most was that in my dream I never saw Jai again. Jai really is the sweetest boy, and the thought of never seeing him again upset me, and I don’t know why. I’m only 15 years old surly I can’t know love at this age.

I woke up and looked at the time; it was 9:30pm. Mum had gone to sleep 30 minutes ago; she left a small amount of pasta for me to eat. She didn’t even say one word to me. I ate the meal and had a quick shower. I washed my hair and then stepped out, wrapping a white towel around me as I did so. I dried myself and walked into my room, I chucked on a pair of sweats and a singlet. I sat down on my bed and stared blankly at the wall in front of me.

I could hear rustling outside of my window. I walked over to it hastily to close it but as I did so my hands were stopped by someone else’s. I looked down and saw Jai climbing up the outside of my house.

“What are you doing?” I quizzed as I pulled him up and into my room.

“I was worried about you.” He replied.

“Well if my mum catches you in here, she will kill you!” I announced.

“Are you okay?” He questioned full worry in his eyes.

Just from him asking that it brought back the argument and tears filled my eyes.

“No.” I sobbed leaping into his chest and hugging him, his hands found their place on my back.

“It’s okay.” He said stroking the middle of my hair.

I continued to cry into his chest as he tried to comfort me. His shirt where I had been crying was drenched. Once I calmed down a little I pulled away. My eyes were red and stinging from the tears. I stepped back and looked up at him. He had a strained smile on his face, he was trying to lighten the mood. I smiled back at him.

“Hi.” I muttered.

“Hi.” He replied.

“Will you stay with me?” I whispered.

“Of course.” He said.

I walked over to my bed and slid under the covers. Jai did the same, but it was a bit awkward, just me and Jai. I flinched as Jai placed his hand on my hip.

“Jai, I don’t think I can do this anymore.” I said.

“Do what?” He questioned.

“Be here, in this house, I think I need to leave.” I replied slowly closing my eyes.

“Then let’s go.” He said confidence in his voice.

“Where would we go?” I asked as I rolled over to face him.

“Anywhere, let’s go someone far away, like to the bush, all you need is someone and a tent.” He said.

I thought about it for a while before agreeing that it was a good idea. I truly though this move from the Gold Coast turned out to be good, but it has almost completely ruined my life. Jai decided he would cuddle me for the whole night, but it felt normal and I felt needed and wanted.

Once we woke, we grabbed a few essentials and a tent. We couldn’t exactly go out the front door, so we decided to scale down the side of my house. Jai went down first and then he helped me down as well. We went to his house and he grabbed some things.

After that we set off, we just left.
