January 1867

Morning sunlight shining against my eyelids pulled me out of my blissful sleep. "Mmm..." I opened my eyes and looked up. Heisuke was still sleeping, yet he had a strong grip around my waist. I had grown accustomed to waking up and not being able to move because of my lover's arm being wrapped around me. Today was no different. I was happily looking up at Heisuke while I drew random shapes with my finger on his chest. I did this until Heisuke started to stir and woke up. "Ohayō sleeping beauty" I joked.
"Ohayō beautiful" Heisuke laid a kiss upon my forehead. "I'm so lucky to be able to wake up to your beautiful face every morning"
"Laying it on a little thick with the compliments there Heisuke" I muttered with a blush. "...You're lucky to have me" I added.
"I know. Sometimes I think I'm the luckiest man in the world. Although, it took quite a bit of time for my luck to kick in" We found ourselves reminiscing about how we ended up together.
"I still can't believe you loved me as soon as we met"
"Why do you think I wanted us to be 'more than just acquaintances'?"
"So you weren't just referring to us being comrades?" His eyes widened because I had questioned him on his intentions at that time too. He looked down embarrassed and mumbled an agreement in response. "Haha, oh Heisuke! You're so red that even your ears are blushing!" I still can't get over how cute he acts sometimes. I giggled to myself. It's absolutely adorable. After stating that, his face flushed an even deeper red. He then raised his eyes to mine and caught my gaze, refusing to let go. He slowly removed his arm from around my waist and straddled himself over me. What's he...? He now loomed over me as I laid in my futon, completely filling my vision.
"You're hardly in a position to speak Chiyeko. You're red all over" He ran a finger along my cheeks, nose, ears, eyelids-basically pointing out all the places that were blushing. "And I really mean: all over"
"No fair Heisuke..." I pouted.
"All's fair in love and war" Heisuke smirked before lowering his head until our lips joined. The kiss he gave me was passionate and deep, leaving me breathless.
"Mmm~" I moaned as we kissed. He pulled away and showed me that goofy grin of his.
"I love you Chiyeko"
"I love you too Heisuke" I smiled exasperatedly. "Flaws and all" I joked causing Heisuke to playfully roll his eyes before kissing me again. I love every part of you Heisuke. I sent my feelings to Heisuke through our kiss.

When we'd finished making out, Heisuke went to his room to get dressed and I got dressed in mine. We then met at the compound's entrance and went out into the streets of Kyoto. Our destination, the café Heisuke and I first ate at together. We arrived and chose a table inside so we could escape the January winter winds. We placed our orders and conversed while we waited for them to be ready. "I think it's nice to go out for breakfast every once in a while. Arigato for suggesting this Heisuke"
"You're welcome Chiyeko. I'm just glad we got out before anyone could catch us. I don't need the guys teasing me first thing in the morning"
"They're probably just jealous that you got a girlfriend before they did"
"Haha, I bet they are" Heisuke heartily agreed. "Shin's always showing off how much he knows about girls, but when it comes down to it he forgets everything and gets all nervous"
"Really? If I'm honest, I'd love to see that"
"It's hilarious watching him try and impress a girl"
"I didn't expect that from him since when he hit on me, he was always so forward and cocky"
"Yeah, well Shin acts differently depending on the type kind of girl he's interacting with. Anyway, the only reason he acted so cocky was because he knew I liked you and was teasing me for "not being a man" and telling you how I felt!" Technically, Nagakura actually didn't know he was in love with me so there had to be another reason for his forward-ness.
"Yeah, that sounds more like the Nagakura I know" I chuckled, deciding it was better to just agree with Heisuke than to give him another reason to start an argument with Nagakura. Our rice porridges arrived putting an end to our banter. "Time to enjoy a nice steaming bowl of rice porridge" I picked up my spoon with the intent to scoop up some rice porridge, but it seemed like my lover had other plans. Heisuke suddenly took the spoon from my hand and scooped up some rice porridge. He then brought that spoon to my mouth with a bright smile.
"Open your mouth"
"N-Nani?!"
"Please Chiyeko?" He looked at me with puppy dog eyes and I sighed.
"Fine..." I opened my mouth and let Heisuke feed me a spoonful of rice porridge. Although being treated like a child was annoying at first, I couldn't hold onto that annoyance when I saw how happy feeding me made Heisuke. "...Hey, this tastes different than before. It's really good!"
"Isn't it? I heard that they hired a new chef"
"Well, no offence to the old chef, but I like this recipe a lot better than the other one!" Heisuke nodded in agreement. Time for a little payback. I picked up his spoon and scooped up some rice porridge. "Now it's my turn. Open your mouth...!" Heisuke bashfully opened his mouth.
"...Ahhh"
"Do you like it?"
"Hai..." As he chewed, his cheeks slightly reddened. So cute! I giggled as he ate his spoonful. "I think it'll be better if we feed ourselves now..."
"I don't mind" I shrugged with a smile. We swapped spoons and enjoyed the rest of our rice porridge together.
