October 1869

{Ever since Heisuke left, I've been trying to stay strong. For him. It certainly wasn't easy with the bloodlust and my mood swings affecting me every day, among other things.

Luckily, one of those problems was solved easy. Just like Heisuke predicted, the animal blood DID quench the bloodlust. However, it didn't taste NEARLY as good as ningen blood. From Heisuke's letters I knew that he agreed with me on that point. Though, it cured the bloodlust so I guess I can't complain. Beggars can't be choosers, right?

As for the mood swings...that problem was harder to solve. Well, it WAS until I realised that it wasn't actually a problem. I mean, the mood swings were, but they were caused by something that most definitely cannot be considered a problem. I just hoped Heisuke would feel the same way...Although, I wouldn't know until he got back from his trip.}

Daylight shone brightly in front of my eyelids and I didn't feel like waking up yet so I tried to turn around, but found that I couldn't. Why can't I move...? I blinked a couple of times as I yawned and stretched myself out. "Huh...?" I opened my eyes and they widened at what they saw.
"Surprise"
"Heisuke, you're back!" I wrapped my arms around him tightly as I rolled into him.
"I'm back alright and-!" I cut off the rest of his sentence with a deep and tender kiss. The longing I'd felt this past month to be with Heisuke again had overwhelmed me. To the point where I just had to show my affections or I'd go crazy. Heisuke was quite surprised at first, but eventually caught on and began to kiss me back. After that, one thing led to another and...Let's just say we ended up having a very heated and pleasurable make-out session.

After breakfast

After eating, Heisuke and I were cuddling outside by our back door. I was leaning against his shoulder while the sun shined warmly down on us. However, our tranquil moment was shattered by our fury nature. "Gah!"
"Heisuke!?" Or more accurately, Heisuke's fury nature. His brown hair melted into white as his green-blue eyes turned red. "H-Hang on Heisuke! I'll go get Aka Tatsu!"
"O-Okay..." He weakly replied while desperately trying to stop himself from scratching madly at his chest. I bolted to our bedroom and snatched up Aka Tatsu before running back to Heisuke. I found him curled up in a ball, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned white. I gasped when I saw a red liquid seep out from the sides his palms. He's clenching his hands so hard that his nails are drawing blood! I sliced Aka Tatsu across my forearm.
"I'm gomen I took so long Heisuke..." I sat down in front of him and held out my arm. Blood was spilling over the wound, leaving me with red steaks going down the width of my arm. "...Here you are" Heisuke struggled, but managed to sit himself upright as his trembling, bloody hands gently took my arm.
"There's no need to apologise...Arigato Chiyeko..." He smiled the best he could before lowering his lips to my wound. At first, his actions were tentative. As if he was unsure of himself.
"Don't hold back now, drink however much you need" I stated softly while stroking his white hair. With my insistence, he became more sure of himself. His grip around my arm tightened slightly as he drank more surely. "That's it Heisuke..." A minute or two later and the whiteness left Heisuke's hair. He let go of my arm and looked up at me, the red having faded from his eyes.
"...That settles it"
"Settles nani?"
"Your blood is a hundred times better than animal blood" He grinned and I giggled at his silliness.
"You seem to be in a good mood, despite what just happened"
"That's because I've got you..." He smiled brightly while slipping his hand into mine. "...and I ain't never letting ya go"
"I wouldn't want you to anyhow" I smiled back, giving his hand a squeeze as I did so.

After lunch

Heisuke and I were now in the courtyard, lounging under the shade of a large tree. "So, you wanna know what that trip of mine was for?"
"I was beginning to wonder when you'd finally tell me" I tried to appear nonchalant, but it was painfully obvious that I wanted to know why Heisuke had gone on that trip.
"Well, the reason I went on that trip is because I want to be with you"
"But aren't you already with me...?" I tilted my head to the side to display my confusion. This caused Heisuke to chuckle softly;
"Hai, but I want us to be even closer"
"Even closer...?" I hesitantly parroted. What does he mean by that...?
"Yup! That trip made me realise that I absolutely hate being apart from you so I want us to be even closer"
"While the feeling is certainly mutual, how do you propose we go about doing that?"
"Simple" Heisuke placed a finger against my lips and smiled. "Chiyeko, I want to stay by your side and make sure you're always smiling. Now and forever. Being a fury, I know my life span is going to be shorter than normal people. So I want to use the life I have left protecting and loving you"
"Heisuke, are you-?" My eyes widened and my heart began to beat faster in excitement and anticipation.
"Will you allow me to uphold this vow and promise to be mine forever?"
"Heisuke..." My heart was touched by his words. Heisuke then looked away from me with a bright blush highlighting his cheeks.
"Geez, I'm so nervous my heart's beating a hundred times a minute...I never knew proposals were so frightening. I'd take dealing with some rowdy ronin over this any day of the week" I giggled as the truth slowly slipped out of his mouth. That's my Heisuke...mine and no one else's. A happy smile blossomed on my face.
"You're acting like a prince" I giggled to myself, though I'm pretty sure he heard me. "Who ever knew my Heisuke was capable of such behaviour?" I teased.
"Chiyeko...!" His blush darkened.
"Gomen, gomen" I chuckled.
"So...I'm hoping we can...you know...be together...forever...What do you say?" His bashfulness made me giggle.
"Oh Heisuke, do you honestly think I could refuse after hearing such a romantic proposal?"
"Do you mean...?"
"Hai, of course. Iie wasn't even an option from the start"
"Chiyeko!" Heisuke lifted me into his arms and twirled me around causing me to giggle. "You have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that"
"I can take a good guess though" I chuckled as he let me back down. "So how exactly did this trip relate to our marriage?"
"Well, I hope you don't find it weird but...I went to your father to ask for your hand in marriage. I know he's no longer with us, but I just thought it'd be the right thing to do..."
"Oh Heisuke, it's not weird at all. I really appreciate you going all that way for me. It shows me just how dedicated and serious you are about me"
"Boy am I glad you feel that way..." He sighed softly, relieved by my answer. "Oh! I almost forgot!" Heisuke took a small box out of his kimono sleeve pocket and opened it to reveal a ring. It wasn't anything overly fancy, but the intricate designs carved into the ring made it seem like it was worth the world.
"It's so beautiful...!" I stated in awe as he slipped it onto my finger. "Where did you get this Heisuke?"
"It's just something I've always had with me. My mother sent me the ring along with a heartfelt letter when I turned 18"
"This ring belonged to your mother...!? I-I couldn't possibly accept this Heisuke!"
"Why not?"
"It's one of the only things you possess that proves to you that your mother loves you...I-I don't want to be the one to take that from you..."
"Oh Chiyeko" Heisuke stopped my hands, which were in the process of removing the ring. "You're not taking it from me, I'm giving it to you"
"Even so..."
"Even so nothing. It's not the only thing I have to remind me, I still have the letter she sent ya know. Besides, in said letter she told me to give the ring to a girl I thought truly deserved it. To a girl I loved with all my heart"
"Heisuke..." He placed a hand on the back of my head and it slid down to my neck while he spoke.
"And in case you haven't worked it out yet, that girl is you. You're the girl who I think truly deserves this ring. You're the girl who I love with all my heart and then some" He then pulled me towards him as he gently pushed on my neck to make our lips meet. I wrapped my arms around his neck as the kiss deepened. I'll make your mother proud Heisuke, this I promise you...Through our joined lips, we channeled each other's emotions. My happiness, excitement and love was sent to him and his was sent to me in return. I held onto those feelings within my heart as we kissed until we had to stop. We pulled away for air and I looked up at him in admiration.
"You're amazing Toudou Heisuke, you know that?"
"Heh, you're the amazing one Chiyeko. I'm just along for the ride"
"Whatever you say Heisuke, whatever you say" I giggled. Now is as good a time as any..."Hey Heisuke...?"
"What's up?"
"I have some news of my own to share"
"Really, what kind of news?"
"Good news, I hope"
"Why hope?"
"Depends on your reaction"
"Well don't keep me in the dark, reaction to nani?"
"It's in the early stages, but...I think I'm pregnant"
"Whoa, really!?" I nodded in response. His shocked expression scared me at first, but slowly that expression changed to one of ecstatic happiness. "You're pregnant!? I can't believe it! This is incredible!"
"You're gonna be a father Heisuke!"
"And you're gonna be a mother! We're gonna be parents to our own child!" Heisuke began to jump up and down out of joy and I wasted no time in joining him. I'm so relieved that he's happy!
