Chapter 8: Woman problems

I am SO sorry that this chapter took so long to come out, I had a LOT of editing to do on it and didn't want to publish it until I was satisfied.

March 1864

After breakfast, Heisuke-kun and I had a training session like we always did. Though, this particular training session was unlike any I had partook in before. This was because we apparently had an audience whose eyes were blatantly zeroed in on me and me only. Heisuke-kun managed to knock my practice sword out of my hand, which brought my attention back to the training I was supposed to be focusing on. It's kinda hard to focus on my training with so many people watching me. Especially with so many males watching me, it's embarrassing to say the least. "Hey Chiyeko-chan!? Did ya hear a word I just said?"
"Iie, gomen. What was it?"
"What's going on with you? Usually you're up and raring to go before I am"
"I think if you turn around then you'll find my problem" As Heisuke-kun had his back to the building, he couldn't see the growing audience behind him. As soon as he turned around, his eyes widened before understanding showed on his face.
"Ah, I see..."
"I can't concentrate with all those men watching me"
"Yeah, I get what you mean...How about we move our training inside for today?"
"Sure, but that reminds me...How come you suggested outside training as opposed to using the training room?"
"Hmm...I don't know why but I always found training outside to be more beneficial. Plus, normally we wouldn't be bothered outside as opposed to in the training room"
"Good points"
"Well, let's go" Heisuke-kun and I went back inside, but instead of going straight to the training room I'm dragged right into Heisuke-kun's room.
"Wait, what are you doing? Why are we here?"
"I figured it'd be best to wait a while while the crowd of men thins out"
"Oh, I didn't think of that. Good call Heisuke-kun"
"No problem Chiyeko-chan, glad to help" He smiled bashfully as he accepted my praise.

An hour later

"Okay, the coast should be clear now. Or at least less men should be wandering around now"
"I hope so..." I followed Heisuke-kun to the training room and inside we found Harada and Shinpachi, sparring against one another. "Hey guys!" Nagakura looked over at me as I greeted them and this gave Harada an opening which he swiftly took. With Nagakura's attention elsewhere Harada easily swept him off his feet with his practice spear before pointing the blunt tip in front of his face.
"I win. And hey Chiyeko"
"That's not fair, Chiyeko distracted me!" Nagakura sulked like a child causing Heisuke-kun and I to discreetly roll our eyes.
"A true warrior must be able to ignore all distractions to win" Harada stated rather smugly.
"Yeah, yeah whatever. What are you two doing here anyway? Don't you normally train outside?"
"Well, we would, but Chiyeko-chan had a bit of an audience and couldn't concentrate"
"A bit of an audience?"
"Seriously Shin, sometimes I wonder how you actually got accepted into the Shinsengumi..." Harada sighed.
"Hey! I'm not that dumb!" Nagakura moved to strike Harada with his practice sword, but he easily blocked it and disarmed Nagakura.
"Apparently, you are" Harada snickered. Heisuke-kun and I laughed at Nagakura's expression. "Anyway, that's to be expected Chiyeko"
"What do you mean Harada?"
"Well news of your joining the Shinsengumi has been travelling like a wild fire and you being female...Well, let's just say it's interested a lot of our men"
"That does make sense since you are the first female member we've had" Heisuke-kun stated. "I mean, even the 8th Division soldiers were surprised when you joined us on patrol for the first time"
"I never thought about it like that, but you're right...I guess I was naive for thinking that my joining the Shinsengumi would be uneventful..." I replied dejectedly.
"Hey, cheer up Chiyeko! It's not like any of them have tried it on with you yet"
"Damare Shin, don't jinx her!" Heisuke-kun exclaimed.
"Only a kid like yourself would believe in jinxing"
"Seriously Nagakura, I didn't come in here to watch you get beat up-though I admit it was hilarious-or to watch you start an argument with Heisuke-kun. I came here to train which is what I would like to do if you'll allow me"
"Wow Chiyeko, you sure know how to get straight to the point" Harada stated, sounding genuinely impressed for some reason.
"Gomen Chiyeko-chan, I got a little carried away there too. Let's start on your training for today"
"Arigato Heisuke-kun" So we began our training session, again. This time with an audience of two. Or one since Nagakura spent most of the hour moaning and mumbling to himself as he sulked.
