(Mini) Chapter 22: Changed objective

So close to not being a mini chapter, but unfortunately it's off by 74 words exactly! But it's still important to the story line even if it's short. So don't be hating and get to reader-bating!

I was sweeping up outside while happily humming to myself. The reason I was doing this was because I'd heard various complaints that the cleaning wasn't being done as thoroughly as most of the soldiers would like. That and I literally had nothing better to do since Heisuke-kun was supposed to be healing. I had finished the inside and was halfway through the outside cleaning when it happened.

"No wonder the cleaning quality's been declining, it takes a lot of energy to clean this whole household..." I wiped away sweat with my cloth before getting back to sweeping. "As long as everyone is happy, that's all that matters" I smiled to myself as I cleaned up. Though, they better not expect this to become a full time thing for me. Ain't no way I'm gaining "cleaning the compound" as one of my job descriptions.
"I said I'd be back, so here I am" My body tensed at that voice. I slowly looked up and there stood Kioshi in the same ninja garb I'd seen him previously wearing. My hands tightened around the broom as I lifted it off the ground and pointed it towards him.
"Stay away from me!"
"A broom? I have a katana and the best thing you thought to do was hold up a broom against me?"
"You got a problem with that?" I couldn't wield Aka Tatsu as it was still in my room.
"Hai I have a problem with that. What do you think a broom is going to do to me?"
"I'm hoping I'll sweep you to death with it"
"Joke all you want, but the matter still remains do you really think a broom is going to work against me?"
"Well, it's working better than I thought it would" I honestly admitted. It took him a while to figure out what I meant.
"Distracting me will not stop me from what I have planned today"
"And what exactly is that? Because I'm not going to let you kidnap me"
"Oh, don't worry. I have no intention of bringing you anywhere. My objective regarding you has changed"
"To nani?"
"Killing you" My eyes widened. I think I liked his previous objective better... "In fact, you'll be the cause of your own death"
"Nani?"
"Chiyeko-chan!"

Heisuke-kun suddenly ran up to and placed himself between us.
"Daijōbu?"
"Hai"
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm going to kill Chiyeko" The way he stated it made it sound like it would happen whether I wanted it to or not.
"I'm not going to let you do that"
"You won't be able to stop me"
"What is your problem?! I have never even done anything to you! Why are you after me?!"
"You've done plenty"
"I have never met you before in my life! I have done nothing to you! Not that you'll listen anyway..."
"...What are you trying to say?"
"Exactly what I just told you. You have no intention of listening to me or anything I have to say. You won't listen no matter how many times I tell you I haven't done anything" My accusation seemed to leave Kioshi at a loss for words.
"You're perhaps the only person I know who can stand up to someone trying to kill them Chiyeko-chan" Heisuke-kun chuckled.
"...You're a stubborn one, I'll give you that" I detected hints of anger behind his words. "Defy me all you want Chiyeko, it won't change anything. All that matters to me is that you pay for what your family has done. Even if that means you die"
"No one is dying today, not on my watch" Heisuke-kun drew his sword. "I'll keep him busy. I need you to go get Souji"
"Right! Be careful Heisuke-kun!"
"I'm always careful" He grinned reassuringly. I chuckled before running into the Yagi house. He should be in his room! I ran to Okita's room and slid open his door.
"What ever happened to knocking?" Okita looked up at me with his usual smirk.
"You don't knock on my door, so why should I knock on yours? Treat others how you wish to be treated"
"Nice words of wisdom there, but I assume you didn't come in here just to show off your intellect"
"Right, Heisuke-kun needs help! He's facing off against Kioshi!"
"The guy who infiltrated our compound with a bunch of ninjas?"
"He's the one" I nodded.
"Then I'd love to get a little payback for that" He stood up and we both ran outside to where I left Heisuke-kun. He was struggling to push Kioshi away with his sword. "Mind if I tag in?" Okita drew his sword and charged for Kioshi. The man jumped back to avoid his swing.
"It doesn't matter how many of you there are. You won't stop me from killing that girl" Kioshi gave a slight nod after his statement. Why did he nod? I looked around confused and gasped when I saw it. There was a ninja perched on top of the Yagi house with a bow and arrow. When Kioshi nodded, the ninja prepped his bow and drew back an arrow. I followed his gaze as he aimed, he was going to shoot Heisuke-kun. My feet began to move on their own, but I understood their purpose. I won't let him kill Heisuke-kun! I'll protect him like he's protected me! The ninja released his arrow. Iie! I leapt as high as I could into the air at the last second, interrupting the ninja mid-shot. The arrow made a 'thunk' noise as it struck me. The surprise of getting shot made my eyes widen.
"Ahhh...ahh..." The arrow had shot me in the chest, dead centre. Ittai...yo...My vision was filled with the familiar colour combination of blue and white, but the colours were not upon the surface I had grown accustomed to seeing them. The blue sky and white clouds dominated my vision as I fell back towards the ground. Curiously, my connection with the ground didn't hurt. In fact, I had crashed onto something soft. Heisuke-kun had caught me. "Hei...su..." I can't finish my sentence...I couldn't force myself to say anything else, but the fact that Heisuke-kun was safe filled me with relief. Heisuke-kun was shouting something as I lost consciousness, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. I couldn't hear anything. My eyes closed and I fell into darkness.
