I woke up to find that I was alone. Huh? Where's Heisuke? I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as I stretched and looked around. Well, he's not in this room. I slipped my feet into my sandals and looked around the house. As I searched for my lover, the smell of something burning reached my nose. Alarmed, I quickly rushed to where the smell was coming from and found my boyfriend in the kitchen. He was covered in various foodstuffs and something black had been dropped on the floor. I suspected that it used to be food. I had to stifle a giggle as I took in the situation. "So, do you care to explain this?"
"I was trying to surprise you with breakfast in bed, but..."
"Aww, that's nice Heisuke, but what's the occasion?"
"There's no occasion, I just...just wanted to repay you for all the cooking and cleaning that you do..." He admitted bashfully.
"You don't have to repay me for that Heisuke!"
"But I want to"
"Well, they do say it's the thought that counts" I ruffled his hair, which was currently the only clean thing about him. "Now why don't you get a bath while I make us a proper breakfast?"
"About that..."
"What did you do Heisuke?"
"I may or may not have used all the food..."
"Nani?!"
"I kept trying and falling to make something and before I knew it I had used up all of the food..."
"I can't believe it..." I sighed as I facepalmed.
"I'm real sorry Chiyeko..."
"It's okay, it's not your fault you have absolutely no cooking skills. I'll just get dressed and go to town"
"Iie! I'll go town!"
"Why?"
"Well it's my fault we have no food in the first place. Plus, you always go into town. For once, you rest while I do the work"
"You do realise me resting and you doing the work is what got you into this situation" I gestured to the messy kitchen.
"There's no way I could make a mess of shopping. And ya could write me a list so I don't forget anything"
"Okay, I guess I do have to do some laundry. I'll write you a list while you clean up this mess" I left and went back to our shared bedroom. I can't believe Heisuke did that...Seems like he's still got a few more surprises up his sleeves. Remembering the state I found him in caused me to giggle. I guess I did know Heisuke can be a bit dim at times before we moved in here. I chuckled as I changed into my black and pink cherry blossom kimono. I did my hair before sitting by my desk. I retrieved a slip of paper and my writing brush then proceeded to write a list of all the food we now needed. A few minutes later, the list was complete. While I waited for Heisuke to finish up, I got out my paper pad and painted. My choice of subject? The event that had just occurred. Despite the mess and failure, it was a really sweet thing that Heisuke did for me. I don't ever want to forget it. I smiled softly to myself as my brush moved about the page.

Around thirty minutes later, Heisuke walked into the room in his western uniform. "Never thought I'd see you in that again"
"Well, never know what kind of trouble you may run into"
"I know, I always wear my western uniform when I go to town too. I'm just saying that I forgot how hot you looked while wearing it..." I trailed off towards the end, embarrassed with what I was admitting.
"You're embarrassed because you called me hot?" Heisuke smirked as he sat down by my side. "I love that cute side of you Chiyeko" He chuckled before kissing me.
"Mmm..." I knew he was teasing me and that I should have pushed him away to teach him a lesson, but I was weak. I admit it. Seeing Heisuke dressed like that aroused me. I reluctantly pulled away when I needed to breathe. "Don't tease me..." I mumbled quietly.
"Gomen, what was that?"
"Just go to town baka!" I shoved the list into his chest and pushed him away from me.
"Alright, alright" Heisuke laughed as he stored the list in his pocket. "I'll be back before lunch, hopefully"
"And I'll be here before lunch, obviously" I followed Heisuke outside and waved him and Jinsoku off as they galloped away. "Now, time to get back to my painting!"

Four hours later

"Done!" I smiled fondly at the completed painting. I wonder what Heisuke will think of it. I giggled to myself imagining him pouting when I showed it to him. I put my brush and paper pad back on my desk. "Damn, I forgot I was supposed to be doing the laundry!" I quickly rushed out of the room and retrieved the dirty clothes and blankets before getting to work.
