"Where are we going, Doug?" Evie asked as they walked along the pavements on Kings Street.
"Its a secret." Doug replied, smirking.
"Dougie..." Evie pouted, tugging gently on Dougs sleeve.
Doug only smirked harder and ignored her.
After another few minutes of walking, they finally reached a forest.
"Where is this, Doug?"
"Its my special place, nobody but me knows it, and you now."
Evie looked confused. "This?"
Doug chuckled, pulling Evie along the narrow path, leaves and twigs crunching below their feet as they walked, before pushing away some leaves to reveal a beautiful clearing.
"No, Princess. This."
Evie gaped at the sight, jaw falling to the ground. There was a fresh patch of grass and neatly trimmed bushes abundant with ruby red roses surrounded the clearing, an ever present half rainbow ran all the way until it reached a waterfall that had water lilies floating peacefully on the pond below it, and baby deers drank slowly from the water while colourful butterflies flew from flower to flower, collecting nectar. Pearl white rabbits hopped joyously and 3 adorable baby ducks waddled slowly behind their mom. It was simply magical.
Evie was speechless the whole time as an amused Doug pulled her towards the patch of grass where a picnic blanket lay below a picnic basket full of food.
"Woah." She finally spoke as she followed Doug's suit, sitting down on the blanket.
"Yea." Doug replied, "Its my favourite spot. But its a secret. Now it can be ours."
"Doug..."
Doug grinned as he pulled out the plates, piling them with a variety of different sandwiches ranging from tuna to ham and cheese to egg mayo, a big bowl of Evie's favourite salad and cold pasta came up next, followed by dozens of eclairs, small cakes, tarts, cookies, mini croissants, cinnamon rolls, and 2 pans: one of apple pie and another, apple cobbler. There were fresh mangoes and strawberries a plenty, apples and blueberries galore. Last but not least, a big jug of apple cider.
Evie's mouth opened even wider, if that was possible, and she rewarded Doug, who jokingly reminded her to shut her mouth or the butterflies may enter, with a huge smooch on the cheek, causing him to blush.
Then, the two dug in, chatting about different topics and enjoying the delicacies. Before long, it was already 12 midnight and the couple were laying on the picnic blanket, having packed the extra food back into the basket, and just enjoying each others company. Evie had started to fall asleep, her eyelids became as heavy as dumbbells and she couldnt help but succumb to the depths of slumber. Noticing that, Doug chuckled and after a few minutes of admiring her, he decided it was time to return or Mal would get worried.
So, he picked Evie, who did not stir one bit, up bridal style and carried her all the way back to her dorm in Auradon Prep.
