At that, the crowd gasped, their demeanours changing from hostile or blank, to pity or curiosity.

All eyes were on Doug, waiting for his next words. It came fast. "I will forgive you, however. On one condition. You apologise to Evie."

The eyes of the Dwarves widened to plates as everyone watched in anticipation. Evie gripped her seat harder, suddenly wary of all the attention... for once.

Awkward tension followed, before Doc stepped up. Gazes focused on the sole dwarf as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "Im sorry, Evie."

This was the signal for the other dwarves to follow suit as a series of apologies were muttered by all... except Grumpy.

Applause had ended for the 6 dwarves, as everyone looked on at Grumpy, who had stood rigid, stubborn as a mule, refusing to apologise. Until, at last, he took a deep breath. "I-Im sorry, E-Evie."

At that, the descendants of kind hearted princes and princesses, as well as the princes and princesses themselves, burst into applause for the dwarves.

However, their attention was returned to Evie again, looking up expectantly at her. Evie's gaze brushed past Doug's and her other friends', but afraid or unwilling to meet them.

Her thoughts raced back and forth, as her breathing ceased, heart thumping as heavily as Jack's giant against her ribcage.

Should she forgive them? The dwarves, who had insulted her mother, her history, her heritage, and most importantly, judged, even disrespected her entire being just for her mother's past, something she wasnt involved in.

Her mother... her mother wouldnt forgive them. She would send them away, banished in a cellar of hate and self reproaching. Would she do that? After all, she was her daughter, and what they had judged her to be. She should grant herself the satisfaction, or even grant them their satisfaction, proving they were right.

But no. She wasnt her mother. Doug had said. She was different. Evie furrowed her eyebrows. She had made her decision.

"I forgive you."

And the crowd burst into choruses of applause. Cinderella had to be proud.
