Doug helped a hyperventilating Evie out of the limousine as they walked towards Doug's family street.

Yea, the dwarfs, who were actually realistic-sized men despite their name and fabled looks, had a whole street named after them. There were 7 rather big houses lined up together, with a joint backyard at the back where parties were held. Today, there was a huge sign hung up in the backyard reading: HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. There were tables of different foods and drinks galore.

"Remember, no word about the baby." Evie nagged as Doug rolled his eyes jokingly. "Im know, Princess. I know."

"Mom!" Doug waved as a middle aged, stout but friendly looking, dirty brown haired, woman ran up to Doug, engulfing him in a tight hug before turning to Evie. Evie gulped.

"Doug," the woman said kindly. "Is this your girlfriend?"

Doug nodded.

"Oh hello dear!" The woman smiled and hugged Evie, who gave Doug a nervous smile.

Doug's mother took Evie's hand warmly and cupped it in hers. "I can sense your worry, darling. I know who your mother is, but i dont mind. I saw you chose good at King Ben's coronation."

At that, Evie heaved a sigh of relief.

"Hi... Doug's mom." She greeted shyly.

"Oh darling, call me Denise."

Evie smiled as Doug led her and his mother into the house.

However, Evie's smile was about to be turned upside down.

As they walked into the backyard and Denise announced their arrival joyfully, all eyes turned to them and the next few minutes were a blur.

Kids hid behind their parents in fear while the legendary 7 Dwarves' and their wives' eyes' widened.

Shocked silence braced the house until Grumpy broke it.

"Doug! What on earth! Evil Queen's daughter is your girlfriend? Havent we taught you better?"

Doug put a protective arm around Evie, who bit her lip, as he looked around for help. His other uncles and dad were looking at him in disappointment while the other kids and teens hid behind their parents. He knew that his mom and aunts approved of Evie, but they never thought to speak up to their husbands.

Doug sighed. "Uncle Grumpy, she's nothing like her mom, even you know that. You saw her chose good at Ben's coronation!"

"Dont you remember what her mother did?" Grumpy retorted.

"Yea," Doug replied. "But this is not Evil Queen. Its Evie. Their not the same!"

"Like mother like daughter, Doug." Doc warned calmly, wagging an accusing finger, pushing his glasses up with the other hand.

"She's not-" Doug started but got interrupted by Evie.

"Im sorry. I didnt mean to cause trouble-" Evie started.

"Oh you stay out of this! You dont deserve an input!" Evie got cut off by Grumpy.

Evie stepped back, slightly hurt and having had enough, while Doug turned to Evie, but she was already gone. He only saw her crying figure disappearing, out of the house and into the nearby woods.

Doug turned back to his family, enraged.

"Serves her right!" Grumpy huffed, crossing his arms. The others looked almost sorry.

"We're doing what's good for you..." Happy tried to cheer Doug up but that got him angrier.

Red in the face, Doug pointed an accusing finger at his family. "How could you! Why couldnt you just accept her? She's my true love! She's not evil like her mother!"

"Dont raise your voice at us!" Grumpy scolded.

Doug ignored him. "I love Evie! I truly love her! She was so afraid to come and face you guys, you know, scared that you wouldnt be accepting, and i convinced her that you were nice, but now i think she's right! She gathered all her courage to come but all you do is scare her off?"

"Young man, that is quite enough!" Dopey spoke up for the first time that day and chided his son.

"No it's not! Evie's welcoming your grandchild into the world, Dad, and yet you cant even welcome her into the house!"

"What did you just say?" Doc asked.

Everyone stood in shocked silence, except the wives of the dwarves, of course. They had been pregnant before and knew the signs. That pregnancy glow, how Evie lurched slightly in nausea when she entered the backyard full of food.

Doug ignored him again. "Im going to find Evie, and we're going back to our house and never coming back again! Dont even think about seeing your grandchild when he or she is born!"

Silence. Nobody spoke.

"Mom," Doug said calmly, though his voice still wavered slightly with rage. "Sorry for ruining Mother's Day. You can come and visit the baby whenever you want."

At that, he ran out to find Evie.
