The morning started off fine. The birds sang and the clouds drifted peacefully, as the citizens of Auradon went about their daily business.
Evie hummed along the sidewalk as she strolled to Auradon Prep's canteen to meet Doug for lunch, since he was volunteering to teach there in his free time.
She grinned as she started to approach him, trying to surprise him by coming from behind, but it was quickly turned upside down when she noticed a hazel eyed brunette chattering joyously to him, often touching his arm affectionately. Most importantly, he looked like he was enjoying it. Well, she couldnt see his face, but she was sure he was enjoying it.
She gulped, as a small teardrop formed in her right eye when Doug had returned her affection, placing his hand on her arm warmly.
The brunette was beautiful, she had hazel brown eyes, the kind Doug liked, and her hair was beautifully curled. Her skin was flawless, she looked intelligent too.
The tear fell.
Evie placed her small hand on her belly, as she sniffled, wiping the tears away, glaring at Doug from her hidden spot behind the pillar.
Determinedly, she furrowed her eyebrows and ran. She ran like there was no tomorrow, as if her troubles would evaporate into flecks of dust to be swept away by a single gush of wind. She ran all the way back to the house, then into her room, straight past an anxious Dizzy who was arranging materials in her small hair dresser, locking the doors of her room before collapsing on it.
A tear cascaded down her rosy cheeks, ruining her carefully applied mascara, as she dramatically reminisced her plans of having more children with Doug, getting married, living happily ever after.
Evie smiled bitterly down at her baby, their poor little princess. Or should she say, HER poor little princess. Guess she wouldnt have a father after all. Just like how her mother had grown up.
Evie sighed as she hugged the bolster tight, not caring about the mascara or dried tears on her cheeks for once, as her eyelids slowly became dumb bells, sending her to sleep.
