Finding Out: 2

"I really dont have to go, Doug." Evie muttered under her breath, arms crossed, exasperated, though she knew she could not change his mind. The pair were standing outside Auradon's best clinic and waiting for a turn in line.

After a while, their cue came and Doug ushered Evie in, before stepping in himself. There, they were greeted by Dr Penny, one of the longest serving, best, most prestigious doctors in Auradon. She had a bright smile and was similar to Fairy God Mother in many ways.

"Good morning Doug, Evie" she chirped and beckoned for them to sit down to explain the situation. Evie gave Doug a glare and Doug immediately got the message that Evie wanted him to speak, starting, "Well, my girlfriend has been having weird cravings, vomiting a lot, mostly in the wee hours of the morning, and i have been treading on eggshells nowadays. No offence Evie, but i think its PMS." Evie glared at Doug and crossed her arms in front of her chest as Doug put an arm around her reassuringly.

Dr Penny smiled. A smile that seemed to make the strongest of cheekbones ache. However, before Doug could question anymore, the couple were pushed into the nearest bathroom with a plastic cup and Evie was told to pee into it. Evie looked sceptical but did it anyway after a few protests while Doug left the bathroom.

"Okay..." Evie sighed as she left the bathroom and her and Doug interlocked their fingers. When they got into the room again, Evie passed Dr Penny the cup and Dr Penny stood up, and busied herself with something while Evie and Doug exchanged nervous glances.

After a moment of silence, Evie broke it, suddenly impatient. "Er... You wont mind telling us what you are doing right?" Dr Penny turned around to took at Evie and smiled, "Im testing your urine."

"No sh-" Evie had started but Doug put his hand over her mouth, along with a stern look and she just slumped back into the seat.

Only after Dr Penny meddled with a few contraptions while humming to herself did she sit down with a piece of paper in her hand, though the couple couldn't see what it was. At that, Evie sat up straight, suddenly interested and both her and Doug leant forward in apprehension.

Dr Penny's smile did not waver. "You two... Are having a baby!"

The next few minutes were a blur for both. Evie put her hand to her forehead and fainted dramatically and Doug just stared blankly into space, trying to register the piece of information. Then, he put his hand on Evie's and shook her up, which she did with a jolt.

Evie smiled and looked unsurely at Dr Penny. "Did... Did you get this right?"

Dr Penny nodded. "Definitely. You are about 8 weeks pregnant!

"Oh... okay" Doug muttered and Evie nodded slowly.

"Do you wanna see the baby?" Dr Penny asked and both Evie and Doug shared a confirmation before nodding in perfect synchronisation.

Dr Penny smiled and ushered Evie to a small bed at the corner of the room as Doug followed behind. There, Evie lay down and lifted up her shirt.

"Okay," Dr Penny said gently as she got the ultrasound machine ready and opened a tube of transparent gel. "This might be a bit cold..."

Evie winced as the gel was squirted onto her flat stomach before Dr Penny put some device on her stomach. Then, she pointed onto the black screen as a white blob just showed up. "This," she said excitedly, "is your baby."

At the sight, both Doug couldnt help but smile. That was a creation of himself and the love of his life! He gave Evie's hand a small squeeze as Evie faked a smile nervously. When they collected the pictures, they left the clinic.
