After a boring 3 hours, Jay burst out the door, face streaked with happy tears.
"HE'S HERE!" He ran out, shouting, pumping his masculine arms in the air.
A series of cheers erupted from the group as excited chatters filled the air and the group filed into Lonnie's hospital ward.
"Hey..." Evie whispered when she entered as the others waved or followed her suit.
Lonnie looked up from the blue bundle in her hands and smiled at the group. Turning the baby to face her best friends, Lonnie gave Jay a look and both chorused in a hushed voice, so as to not wake the baby up.
"Meet Jackson Shang 木商."
Evie, Mal and Jane immediately rushed over to Lonnie to coo at the baby while the men, congratulated Jay. Nobody had ever seen Jay so happy in his life, not even the VKs.
A few hours later, Jay ushered everyone other than his mother in law out of the room for Lonnie to rest, partly because baby Ari had woken up and started crying and that baby Jackson, nicknamed Jack, would need to be fed.
That night, Evie, to Doug's delight, crawled up to bed with Doug, deciding that she was too excited to care about the pee.
"I cant wait for our baby to arrive." She grinned, rubbing her swollen belly.
"We should wait." Doug stated matter of factly.
Evie rolled her eyes and punched Doug's arm playfully.
"You know what i mean," she said.
Doug grinned and put her mouth to Evie's stomach. "Hey little one, your supposed-to-be best friends have arrived already. Next up is you."
Almost in response, the baby kicked Evie gently.
"Ah." She groaned, placing her hands on her stomach, before smiling.
"She's smart." Doug commented nonchalantly and Evie sneered.
"Guess she got that from me." She said, sticking out her tongue.
Doug laughed. "Nah, most likely from me."
"Nuh-uh." Evie shook her head, acting like a child.
In response, Doug started tickling her, sending her into a fit of giggles.
