The school system

It is a quiet night, the shallow whispering of the wind hitting the windows are the only sound that I can hear for a while but it isn't what wakes me up. The empty abyss that lay's waste to my side did as I slowly but gradually open my eyes to see Conner staring out the window with his back turned to me.

"Parker" I beg as I wrap my small arms around his broad chest knocking him back into the present as he turns around to hug me.

"Sorry I didn't mean to wake you up" he whispers as he leads my sleepy self to the bed, he tucks me in and wraps me up around him hugging me tightly as he kisses my forehead.

"Is something up?"

"No, don't worry about it" he reassures me as I fall back asleep kissing his chest once more and falling back into my dreams. I wake up with Conner's arm around my waist as it was loosely playing with the jumper's sleeve, I sit up and rub my eyes looking at the sun that screams through the closed windows.

"Come on Parker, time to get out of bed," I say as I throw the covers off and walk down the stairs getting bowls out with fruit as I make some breakfast for Conner and I. I walk up the stairs to see Conner dressed already as I smile at him; he's putting on his shoes as he sits on the edge of the bed.

"Morning" I say to him as he smiles and stands up patting off the invisible dust.

"Morning" he says back as he kisses my forehead and hugs me, he walks down the stairs and eats his breakfast before going over to his house and grabbing some more clothing. I knock quietly on my father's door as I slowly open it.

"Dad? You awake?" I ask as I slide into the room undetected so far and walk over to his bed, his small tuff of dark graying hair peaks out from under all the covers and pillows as a couple of bottles lay around the room.

"I'm getting ready for school, you should be getting ready for work? I've made you a bowl of fruit with yogurt down the stairs for breakfast" I say as I kiss his cheek he smiles before asking me to leave the room as I do what I'm told.

Once I'm changed and out of the house Conner roles by with his car as I hop in, Beth and Ronny in the back.

"Don't you need a day off?" Beth asks me as I put on my seat belt.

"Nope because it's first day back and where ever Conner goes I've gotta follow" I say to her as she sits back looking at Ronny.

"I lost to bet with Conner, and this is the punishment" I clarify to her.

"She did put up a fair fight I'll give her that" Conner says making me laugh, once we enter the protruding school gates we exit the car as Ronny runs off to his group of misfits while Conner, Beth and I head in through the main entrance. The cluster of students and teachers breaks out as us all weave through dodging a multitude of varying objects like footballs and shoes that are being thrown around. Beth soon goes solo through the left hall's to get to her class as she is the part of the student council, once Conner and I both get our gear and head off to our homeroom I grab his hand making him smile.

"Does Beth know about you and Ronny?"

"You mean the wolf side?"

"Yeah what else could I mean" I say to him as we sit down in our seats next to each other.

"I don't know, I mean she knows about Beast but I don't think she knows what he really is, or me for that matter" he says as we sit and I think more about James, though I barely knew him his voice still lingers in my mind, he has this effect on me the way he acted towards me – though I didn't appreciate it – I couldn't get him out of my head no matter how hard I tried.

The suffocating sound of the school bell rings through my ears as I turn to see Conner cupping his, I put a hand on his forearm and he turns his head to pour his green eyes into mine.

"You okay?" I ask him as he looks ahead to a group of gothic looking teens that sit forward sparing one seat in front of mine, a low growl erupts next to me causing my wide eyes to turn to Conner, teeth baring and eyes struggling to stay the green that they usually are.
