Jeremiah POV
"Hold that thought Jordan,"I said as I answered the FaceTime call.
"What you up to bae?"Haley asked with her face in the camera. I flipped the camera from me to show her the paintings and drawings.
"Looking at Jordan's drawings."I informed her. "She's an artist."
"That's not how you say it Miah. It's artist!"She threw her hands out to be more dramatic than usual. I laughed at her.
"Oh. Wait, show me that painting over there in the corner."Haley directed and I went over to it.
"It's me on a pony when I was little, riding off into the sunset."Jordan told her.
"That's cute. Are you selling any?"
"I didn't plan on selling any."Jordan shook her head.
"Come on, you could make some money off that."
"I paint for my own enjoyment. They aren't to be sold."Jordan refused.
"Ima talk to her about it."I told Haley.
"Great! So you still coming over tonight?"
Jordan raised her eyebrow at me. "Ima see if I can work something out. I'll let you know."
"Okay."We hung up just as Madre burst into my room.
"Jordan!"She screamed with a smile. "I haven't seen you in years! Do you remember me?"
"Yes, I remember you."Jordan smiled, hugging her back.
I let those two have their little reunion by leaving the room. "Can you fix me some ramen noodles?"My god-sister asked me, sitting down at the bar stool. I fixed her a pack of noodles and sat it in front of her.
I reached up to grab her a bag of chips. For some odd reason, she always ate chips on the side of meals. It's awkward if ya ask me. "You're almost a grown woman and I'm still fixin' your food like you're little."I chuckled.
"I'm only sixteen."Shivangi flipped her hair over her shoulder and flashed me a smile before digging in. I shook my head at her and left the kitchen.
"Aye! Miah come get these damn cats!"Mama demanded.
"What did they do?"I asked, peeking my head into my parents' bedroom.
"Over hea' fuckin'. Better tell them take that shit outside."My Dad commented.
"Aye!"I snatched the two of them off my parents' bed and carried them upstairs.
"Caught them fuckin' downstairs."I laughed. "They tryna make some babies."Jordan added.
"Ian never seen them act like that before."
"They prolly been doing that since we were little and we're just noticing."
Jordan and I chilled in my room for the rest of the day. "Do your parents know you smoke?"She asked as I rolled up.
"I think they know. Who cares? I'm grown. Pass me that lighter."I shrugged, lighting it up.
"Aye we 'bout to head out. Watch ya brother."My dad ordered.
"Aight." When he left my room, I turned back to Jordan. "You wann' smoke?"
She shook her head no. "Come on, it's fun."
"I'm good."She refused so I let it go and smoked by myself.
"I'm gonna go get in the shower."She told me before getting up from the bed and going into my bathroom.
Giving her some privacy, I walked out of my room and went down the hall to check on my brother.
