Jordan POV

Sonta's "Friends" played through the tv as I helped Miah clean up his room-well, he was sitting around on his phone so I was doing most of the cleaning.

"Get the cats,"I demanded, starting the swiffer wet jet. He called them out from under the bed and placed them on the bed. I pinched his butt and burst into a fit of laughter.

"Jordan, stop that shit, you know ion like that."He complained, giving me an agitated look.

"I think you're right for meee, and I'm right for youuu!"I screamed into an imaginary microphone. Okay I'm taking this song too serious, I thought, pushing those thoughts out of my mind. "I must admit I can picture there being us."

"Could you handle what's reeeeaalll!"Miah chimed in, making me crack a smile.

"How would you feel!?"

"That's my shawty, my day one."

"He been here with me since day one!"

"Y'all sound like screeching cats."Colten bust in the door.

"Nigga, fight me."I challenged. "Stop hatin'!"Miah added. Colten took off his slide on shoes and threw one at Jeremiah.

"When you get a girl, you can be buddy buddy with her and you'll understand."Miah threw the shoe back at him but by that time, Colten was already down the hall in his room.

"Ooh, what was that?"I asked with a smirk. I sat down on the bed and Babushka came to lay by me.

"What was what?"

"When you get a girl."I mocked his voice. "You don't have a girl."

"I think I do."He plopped down by me.

"Who is she?"

How could Miah have another girlfriend already; like, he and Haley just broke up two days ago and... I mean, I know he's fine and all, he has the charm to get another one but... i just feel like that's too fast. He stared at me for a second, I guess trying to find his train of thought.

"Babushka."He picked her up and made her stand on her bottom legs. My eyes widened as soon as I saw piss come out of her hole. "Oh my god!"I screamed, feeling the warm liquid on my face. Miah almost instantly dropped her. "Shit."He got up, grabbed my hand and took me into the bathroom.

"She really just pissed on me!"I cried. "I know,"He mumbled, wetting a towel.

"Miah, that's fuckin' disgusting!"I wiped my eyes of the tears that were coming out of them. "I know baby, calm down."

"No, I need a shower. That's so nasty."

Jeremiah POV

"Bad kitty!"I fussed at her when I heard the tub knobs turn on. She stared up at me with that face of hers; the face she always makes when she's in trouble.

"You know you wrong for that and I'm not falling for your eyes this time. Get ya ass innat cage."I turned the latch downwards to lock her in the cage.

Abel jumped off the bed and went into hiding. He always found some place to hide whe I bought the cages out; he hated being stuck in there.

"You good?"I asked when Jordan came out of the bathroom. She shrugged. "I guess so."She mumbled.

"Wasted a bikini too."She got in the bed.

"Watchu mean?"

"You bought me three bikinis, I only got to wear two."

"What's the problem?"I'm beyond confused. They'll be other times she'll get to show off her body under the sun, what's the deal about this one.

"I'm saying take me to the pool. You want me to be sad the rest of the day."

"You really wanna go to the pool. You'on think it's too late out."

"I have a strong man to protect me."She smiled, rubbing my arm.

"If I'm protecting you, who protectin' me?"

"Me. We protect each other, that's what besties do."

I pulled out some swim trunks while she got her bathing suit ready.

"Where do y'all think y'all going?"Madre got up from her chair.

"Neighborhood pool."

"Be safe out there."Mama stirred whatever was in the pot; her and Madre returned to whatever they were talking about before we walked in. I opted on leaving my keys home and Jordan and I left.

"Keke, do you love me! Are you riding!"She yelled into the empty dark street. "Now when them white neighbors call the police on us, you gon' be the one going to jail."I told her.

"You gonna bail me out."

"Hell nah."

"You wouldn't bail me out?"

"Nah. How ima bail you out, nine outta ten we both will get locked up."

"Don't say that."

I used the card the people gave me to get into the pool. The lights around the pool flickered on. I took the easy way, going down the steps but she wanted to be extra and jump in.

"Catch me!"She screamed. I watched her fly through mid air and flop right into the pool. "Why you didn't catch me?"She asked, coming to the surface.

"Because ya looked like you was 'bout to kick me in the face, so me bein' me, I turned away."

"Your face ain't allat anyway."

Damn, that hit home so hard that it hurt my heart a little.

"So you sayin' ian poppin'?"

"Ian say allat na'."She splashed me.

"So what 'cha sayin'?"

"Why you questioning meeee!"She giggled. When she didn't want to answer something, she'd always laugh and say something that'll change the subject.

"I see how you feel."I went under the water and pulled her down with me.

Vangi POV

I know I said I was going to tell my parents as soon as I got home but the family called an emergency dinner meeting and I had to put it off. But now that we're back home, it's now or never.

"What y'all doing?"I asked, opening the door to my parents' room.

"Your father is just being a butthole!"Mom clawed at him and he swatted her away.

"What's up buttercup?"

"My friend Nala is going to be staying with us for a while."

"I don't trust that girl, no."Mama refused.

"Mama she ain't got nowhere to go."

"What happened to her parents?"

"Child neglect and child endangerment."

"What type of endangerment?"

"Gosh, stop with the questions Mama."i complained. "It's not my business to tell. You can set aside this sudden feeling you have about her and ask her about it if you feel like being nosey. She's staying with us and that's final."

I walked out of their room and shut the door after I got my point across.

"You can just talk to your parents like that and they not bat you across the face?!"Nala was amazed.

"Girl I been bossing them around since I learned how to talk. Come on."
