Jeremiah POV
"Miah, I don't feel so good."Jordan came into the room with tears in her eyes. "Wh-why are you crying?"She asked me.
I couldn't speak, I won't even try to. The amount of tears coming from my tear ducts gave her all the answers she needed. She held me as I cried in her lap.
"We can't sit here and cry about it."Dad spoke up, interrupting the silence. "Crying accomplishes nothing. Tears can't bring her back."He added.
"So what can we do?"Jordan asked him.
"All we can do now is plan her funeral. I guess it was too late when we found out she had cancer."he replied.
Her fingers ran through my hair, soothing me. "I don't know how to do that."I choked.
"I've planned many funerals in my day if ya know what I mean. You two need to go home, get some rest."
~~~
It was a silent ride home, no music, no talking, just quiet.
"You're not the only one,"She whispered, not looking away from the window.
"...what you mean?"
"My mom got herself a new friend and the friend found her hanging upside down from the ceiling fan in my room. She died this morning."
"In your room?"
"He said she missed me so much to the point where she couldn't take me being away from her. So she did it in my room."
"You gonna go down there?"
"I don't have the money to go down there, have a funeral and have money to come back. I don't have any money to my name."
"That makes two of us."
"We will reach serenity sooner or later. Bae, I promise you, we will rise above these obstacles."
We didn't speak much the rest of that day, we needed our space to grieve about our own problems. I didn't bother taking my clothes off, I got under the covers and just cried. That's all I felt like doing.
"Mama! Mama, look!"I ran through the school parking lot trying to get to her.
"I got an A on my test mama!"I showed her the paper. First grade is a breeze for me; it's so easy.
"That's so good baby. You're my mister smarty pants!"She was a proud mommy, her smile made me feel like I had accomplished something big.
"Smart like daddy?"
"Probably smarter."
"Can we get ice cream from McDonald's on our way home mama?"
"Anything for my mister smarty pants!"
The time her and dad went half on a plane for me...
"I'm doing it! I'm doing it!"I cheered, moving my fingers against the remote control. The three of us ran around the backyard the whole morning while I played with my toy car. Tired, we went back in the house to put the plane on the charger.
"How would you like to fly a real plane?"She asked. My eyes widened.
"A real one?"I repeated.
"Yeah. Come on."She grabbed my hand and went back out to the yard. In front of me sat a huge airplane.
"Daddy owns this plane and he wanted you to be the first to fly it."She informed me.
"Sweet! It's huge!"
We got in the plane and she plugged the keys up. I sat in her lap and she guided me. I flew the plane around the subdivision before we had to refuel it. I ultimately couldn't believe daddy bought a plane.
Done grieving for the day, i grabbed my phone and logged onto Instagram. I accepted a few follow requests before making my account public for everyone to see.
"Your check came through."Jordan told me, making me sit the phone down.
"How much is it?"
"Ian wanna open it without your consent."
She sat down by me and I tore open the envelope. "It's not much but issa start."She rubbed my arm. "That's your motivation right there."
"You right."She followed me to the living room where my equipment for the channel was set up. I looked at the screen seeing that I now had two thousand subscribers. On the first video I put out, five hundred people liked it. The second video had three hundred likes.
"You gonna get there babe. It just takes time."
