Dear Joey,
Something wonderful happened today, Joe. Something completely amazing. I got part of me back, Joey. Part of the old, part of who I was. I liked that guy, I really did. I know why he's gone but it doesn't mean I don't miss him. I think you would miss that guy too.
I was stood by my locker, reaching my hand into grab the books I needed. Blue was stood next to me, chatting away about her want to re-dye her hair. She apparently thought black was the new way to go. I turned and nodded at what she was saying, not fully listening. As lovely as Blue was, she was still a girl, meaning she still loved to chatter about useless things. I felt a pair of eyes watching me, and I glanced up to meet the electric blue irises. Duke was standing across the hall, surrounded by his team, but effectively ignoring them. He grinned at me, raising an eyebrow. I nodded at him, shooting him a smirk. He was so comfortable acknowledging me now,it was weird. But then, Duke started to walk forward, his friends parting to let him through, watching with annoyed eyes. I ,too, was extremely surprised, as Duke just usually gestured his greeting and carried on. But who was I to question the way his mind works? I even saw Blue looking at him surprise, but she quickly covered it with a knowing smirk.
"Duke." I said quietly as he approached, well aware that we had plenty of eyes on us.
Grinning, he looked care free and completely unfazed by the stares, and I felt my chest swell with pride. The guy who was in a relationship with a full time bitch for over a year, was finally realising everyone else's opinions don't always matter. And I have never been happier to say I have changed a guy, even slightly. Duke opened his arms, and rested his head on my neck.
Shocked, I brought my hands around his waist, fighting to keep my face expressionless. "Hey." He said simply when he pulled away.
"Hey." I replied evenly, smirking at him. I saw him scan my eyes and see the unspoken question there.
"I feel like I haven't actually spoken to you in ages." Duke smiled, joining me by leaning against the lockers. "The nods don't really tell you much." I chuckled.
"Its been a week, but okay." Duke just rolled his eyes, a little embarrassed. I'm not complaining if he wants to talk. "How are you?" I questioned, amused by the amount of watchers we had for such a simple conversation.
"Good, you?" He asked, looking very happy. Before I could reply, however, Blue interrupted.
"Nobody wants to know how I am?" She demanded, hands on her hips.
"Of course, Darling." I cooed. Such a typical Blue thing to do. I didn't mind of course, and I valued the fact she hadn't been rude yet. Yet."How are you?" Duke looked amused and a little confused.
Blue beamed. "I'm great, apart from my asshole friend is talking to some guy and hasn't introduced me." She was obviously going for the overly happy thing I hate. And she bloody knew it, by the small smirk playing at her lips. I chuckled.
"Duke," I turned towards him. "This is my friend Bl-Jenna. Jenna, Duke. Happy now?" I drawled.
Blue rolled her eyes. "Yep, now my life has changed for the better." She said sarcastically. And there she is. There's the Blue I know and love.
Duke laughed. People were starting to leave now, a few giggling at Blue 's comments. Unsurprisingly, that girl could be a comedian if she was bothered.
