Dear Joey,

We didn't see Nicole nearly all of the next day, which worried us. Queen Bitch usually liked to make her presence know to everyone and everything, so her disappearing after that fucking text was not a good sign.

In fact, Duke had come to the conclusion she would avoid us the best she could. According to the football team, who looked a little freaked when me and Duke asked them, Nicole was at school, just laying low.

It had gotten to the end of the day, and I waited for Duke outside my locker. Blue was promising me she would look for Nicole with us tomorrow, wearing the same sour expression she did every time Queen Bitch was mentioned. I was grateful, as Nicole's odd warning was worrying me. I mean, she's always hated me, but I find it hard to believe she had lost all her affection for Duke. They dated for a year and a half for fucks sake, even if those feelings were just friendly, you wouldn't want to completely fuck someone over, right? Oh, fuck that. This is Nicole. Bitch doesn't have a heart anywhere under that water bra.

Duke and me walked out towards my bike, discussing Duke's latest English assignment. He was nervous about it, as it was rather in depth and personal. I assured him it would be okay, and he froze. Literally, stopped moving staring directly ahead at my bike. I followed his gaze till I met that of Nicole, who was stood next to my bike, a stony expression on her face. I shook Dukes arm, mumbling something about having to talk to her anyway. He followed nervously, intertwining his fingers with my own. I squeezed reassuringly. Even though I was more angry than worried. The bitch wanted this. She wanted us to get all worked up looking for her all day, then suddenly appear out of fucking no where. She liked the dramatics.

We reached Nicole, and I made sure to stay a few steps back. Well, I didn't want to catch slut germs after all. No Cole, I mentally scolded myself, you can't say shit like that about girls, bitch or not. That's not okay.

Duke stood slightly in front me, almost protectively. We were still holding hands, of course, and I caught Nicole staring at them with a sneer on her face. I smirked at her, following my eyes at her jealously. Stupid girl, she didn't give a fuck about him.

"Nicole." I growled. "Are you here to explain that ridiculous text you sent him?"

She chuckled, flicking back her fake blond hair and fluttering her fake eyelashes. She was playing to the small crowd that was surrounding us. I found it amusing  how we always seemed to be surrounded by people, like our lives we some sort of fucking TV show. Although I was used to it, some privacy would be nice.

"I was only telling the truth," She giggled. "He did deserve it."

"Deserve what?" Duke interrupted, sounding mad. His hand was crushing my own, and I rubbed soothing circles into his palm. He relaxed slightly under my touch, but carried on glaring at his ex girlfriend.

"Everything you get." Nicole snapped. "You deserve everything you get."

"And why is that?" I growled. "Because we're gay?" I added sarcastically, royally pissed off. We were only a few minutes into the conversation and I was that angry, which was not a good sign for my health.

"Because you turned him gay!" Nicole screeched, hands thrown in the air with anger. "Because you corrupted him and broke us up!"

Duke took a step forward. "He did not turn me gay." He said, his voice scarily calm. His face was thunderous, his beautiful eyes wild as he stared at Nicole. I watched in awe, chest swelling with pride at how calm Duke was staying. I knew how much comments like that bothered him. "Being gay is not a choice." He called out, so most of our audience could hear. "You are born that way. Just because it took time to realize it doesn't mean it wasn't always there. Get over yourself, Nicole." He snapped, and I reached out to pull him back, worried about how riled up he was getting.

We did not need him to go too far and get in trouble. Duke looked around with fierce eyes, before they softened and he melted into my touch. He pressed himself into my side, sighing. I stroked his arm absentmindedly.  I knew he didn't like to get mad, that it physically tired him out, but I was glad he had stood up to her for once. He was proving to others that he was happy, and that, in turn, made me happy. Extremely happy.

"Well.. I-uh.. um" Nicole stuttered, and I raised one eyebrow at her, amused. Growling, Nicole stood up straighter and flicked her hair again. She placed a sickly sweet smile on her face before carrying on. "You better get home soon, Duke. I have feeling your parents are going to be a little more than interested about your new boyfriend." She giggled.

I stiffened. Of course she did, of course she told his parents. She was evil.

In theory, Dukes parents don't pay enough attention to care whether he was gay or not. However, they are nothing without their reputation. And a gay son won't bode well for that. I felt Duke go to step forward, but I pulled him back, muttering comforting words in his ear.

"You told my parents?" He asked Nicole, keeping his voice neutral. She giggled again.

"Sure did." She fluttered her eyelashes. I growled. "I though they deserved to know who- oh, sorry, I mean what their little boy was doing in his spare time."

My fists started to tremble with anger, and Duke lent over and brushed a kiss over my cheek reassuringly.

"Sweetheart, at least I know I can turn him on." I growled. "You'd be surprised what a gay guy has to think about to fuck a girl." I finished, smug at her furious expression. I heard a few laughs, mainly from people who had been terrorized by Nicole before, and were enjoying the sweet revenge. When hearing one especially loud chuckle, I looked over to find my home room teacher covering her mouth, to try and, unsuccessfully, hide her laughter. I smirked and raised my eyebrows at her, and Miss just shrugged guiltily. Seemed even the teachers hated Nicole.

Duke rolled his eyes and looked up at me with an exasperated expression. "That again?" He sighed, and I chuckled and pinched his side.

"Well, you did think of me." I defended, recognizing he was teasing by the glint in his eye too subtle for anyone else to see.

"I know I did, baby. But the way you talk, people would think we do nothing but fuck." He fake complained. I laughed again, purposely ignoring Nicoles presence.

"I didn't say that." I chuckled. "Not that I'd be complaining." I added, watching Dukes fake annoyance fall off as he joined me in laughter. Boy couldn't act to say his life. Then again, that also meant he couldn't hide anything from me, which was fucking good.  Duke took a deep breath, keeping a half smile on his face, that didn't reach his eyes.

"So, babe," He forced out a chuckle. "You ready to meet my parents? Since we weren't given much a choice."

I laughed again, not meaning a single second of it. "Of course, why not? Had to happen, I suppose its better that we get it over and done with."

Duke  got up on his tiptoes and pressed his lips to my own, earning a collective gasp from our audience, and a few strung out "Aww"'s. I put my hand on his cheek, drawing patterns onto his back reassuringly. I felt everything Duke was trying to hide in that kiss. How scared he was to see his parents, how he hated Nicole. But by showing that, she would've thought she had won. And we couldn't let her win.

After a few moments, we pulled away, and I rested my forhead against his, breathing heavily. I knew Nicole was standing there fuming, but I didn't care. If she wasn't being a bitch, I wouldn't have been a jerk. But she was, so I was.

Duke still wore a smirk, but his eyes said something different. They looked terrified. Swallowing down my guilt, I pretended to smile happily. "Lets go babe." I whispered.

Fuck, fuckity, fuck fuck fuck. And shit.

“Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other.”
