Katie's POV
"Hey Katie!" I hear Tristan call from his car as I walk out my front door.
"Hey..." the words trail out of my mouth, unsteady, as I meet Tristan in the driveway.
"What's wrong?" He asks while giving me the usual greeting hug.
Tristan can tell I'd rather not be on this date right now, not that I was hiding it well at all. I knew this date would drag on and on for what felt like forever while I suffered through it, and you can imagine I wasn't looking forward to that. It's not because I don't like Tristan, he obviously wouldn't be my boyfriend if that were true, I'm just frustrated, and it's about something that Tristan can't control which frustrates me even more because I care about him.
"Nothing, I'm good." I lie in a more cheery tone than before, trying to cover up the fact that I'm dreading the next hour or so. "Can we go now?" He nods, and I get in the passenger seat of the car he can now drive since he got his license a couple months ago.
Tristan pulls out of my driveway, heading toward the beach for our date. When we arrive, Tristan leans over and kisses me on the cheek as we look out over the water, causing a chill of guilt to flood through my body, Tristan realizes I shivered.
"Are you feeling okay?" He asks, rubbing my shoulder. I simply nod in response. "Are you sure? You shivered like you were cold, and it's 90 degrees out..."
"Yeah, I'm alright." I can't tell him. Not now. "Let's just eat the food you brought." I fake smile, this is going to be a long day.

When we arrive back at my house and are on the front porch, Tristan smiles at me. "I hope you had as much fun today as I did," he says. I look down at my feet shyly.
"Yeah, it was fun." I reply. "But can we talk about something?" I ask.
"Yeah," Tristan agrees, but I can tell from his voice that he's worried.
"I've actually needed to tell you this for awhile..." I sigh.
"Go for it,"
"I just...I don't know how I can keep this up, there's another tour rolling in for you,and it's like I'll never fully be with you." I blurt out.
"How long have you felt this way?" Tristan asks quietly.
"Since you left for the last tour. I knew your band was really popular on YouTube, but having you gone for all those weeks made me finally realize you really are famous. And it was like I wasn't even in a relationship with you. You're famous, I get it, but at the same time I don't get it. I don't think I can ever fully understand because I'm not in your place. I don't see this relationship being able to get anywhere, so I don't want to keep leading you on. I don't think either of us are old or mature enough to handle a relationship where we can't be together a majority of the time. I know I can't do it, I'm sorry." I open the unlocked front door before Tristan could say anything more and immediately run up to my bedroom, leaving Tristan alone on my porch, he's most likely upset and I don't want to see that.
