~ Your POV ~
Ethan holds your shoulders to stop you shaking, and your eyes lock onto his in search for a comfort that you know you'll always find there.
"Im scared Ethan." You utter, your timid voice hushed by your nerves.
Your boyfriend nods and gives you a reassuring smile "I know baby, but it'll be alright, I promise. Anything that scares you, only scares you because you give it the power to do so, and once you see all those smiling faces, that fear wont have any power anymore, trust me."
You close your eyes and take some deep breaths as you nod at him, and he leads you over to the edge of the stage, taking your hand and intertwining your fingers with his.
"Just dont let me fall over onstage." You warn him as your gaze fixes on the stage you're standing on, and your ears become overwhelmed by the sound of excited screams from the audience beyond the curtain.
Ethan chuckles at your request, and squeezes your hand "I wont let you fall."
That's the last thing he says to you before he jogs out onstage, pulling you with him since his hand is still holding yours. You realise in that moment that his reasons for holding your hand werent solely romantic, but were also for convenience in getting you out onstage. Smooth moves, Nestor, you think to yourself, but your mind quickly goes blank as you stand directly in front of countless faces, all of them grinning and screaming, some of them crying, some of them taking pictures, but all of them staring at you.
"Hey guys!" Ethan greets them, waving at everyone with his free hand, and everyone cheers in response "So, Im Ethan, and this is my girlfriend (Y/N)! She's very shy, and this is her first panel, it took a hell of a lot just to persuade her to come to Pax at all, because she was paranoid that either I, or someone else, would find a way to get her up onstage, and she was right!" He smiles down at you, and the crowds of people release a united 'awwh' in response.
You smile back at him, and then your terrified gaze drifts to the people in front of you, all of them silently awaiting some sort of introduction from you.
"Uh, hi! Im (Y/N), and I really feel like I should be sat down there with you guys, for two reasons. One, Im literally just one of you, and two, it's very scary up here." You laugh nervously, and the chorus of laughter from the crowd in front of you boosts your confidence to no end, setting your mind at ease at least a little. Maybe this wont be so bad after all?
Ethan beams down at you with pride, before looking back at the audience "All we've really got planned for this panel is a Q&A, so if you guys could VERY SLOWLY make your way to the mics and form something that relatively resembles a straight line, that'd be real sweet! We wanted to something pretty chill, since this is (Y/N)'s first panel, and she hasnt had the chance to talk to many of you face-to-face, since she's even been too shy for meet and greets up until now." He smiles down at you warmly "Her shyness kinda softens how obnoxiously loud I am."
After another 'awwh' moment from the audience, people begin getting up and making their way over to the two mics toward the front row of seats, forming lines behind them. You and Ethan make your way over to the couch set up on the stage for you, and you let go of Ethan's hand. He quickly glances over to you with a look that says 'you good?' and you simply nod back at him, causing him to grin.Once you're sitting down, everything strangely becomes far more manageable. Maybe it's because when you were stood up, you were worried about passing out, and sitting down sort of eliminates the risk of that being a dangerous situation for your anxiety. Whatever the reason, you're glad of it, because you quickly adjust and become totally comfortable talking to the complete strangers that are standing at the mics. Well, they're strangers, until they tell you their usernames, and then you immediately know who they are.
"Hi! My name's Izzy, and oh my god, you guys are literally my favourite couple ever!" The girl standing at the mic to the left squeals excitedly.
Ethan smiles at her "Hey Izzy! Yeah, we're my favourite couple too." He slides you a cheeky smile, and the audience screams.
You shake your head at him, but cant fight back a smile, and instead focus your attention back on Izzy "Hey Izzy, what's your question?"
Even from the distance between the couch you're sitting on and the mic Izzy is standing at, you can see her visibly trying not to freak out "My question is, what are both of your views on fanfiction? I know Ethan has made videos reading fanfiction before, but he's never really given his opinion on it, and since you two have fanfiction written about you, I was wondering what you think of it all?"
Your eyes go wide "Well, isnt this a question..." You stare down at your shoes in shame and scratch the back of your neck "I may or may not have written a lot of fanfiction myself when I was a teenager..." The audience cheers, and you wait for them to quieten down before you look up at them and continue "I have no problem with the fanfiction community at all, and I think it's got an unnecessarily bad stigma because the most fucked up fanfictions are the only ones people generally know about. There are so many unrecognised, incredible young authors writing fanfiction, and I know from experience that hearing people you write about say that any kind of fanfiction creeps them out, can be very disheartening, and can make those authors feel embarrassed. In my opinion, fanfiction is just another genre of fanart, that should be appreciated, and always will be by me." The audience cheers again at your words, but louder this time.
You turn to look at Ethan, to see him already smiling at you.
He nods and turns to the audience "As long as the shipping doesnt go as far as to cause disruption or discomfort between people who are just friends or whatever, I completely agree." Then he looks back at you "Now, onto the fancition that YOU used to write, care to share?"
You shake your head frantically as you blush a violent shade of red, your hands quickly reaching up to cover your face.
Ethan chuckles "Ok, can you at least tell us someone that you wrote fanfiction about?"
Very reluctantly, you take one of your hands away from your face, and use it to point a finger at Ethan, causing the entire room to erupt with screams, and Ethan's jaw to drop so far you wonder how it doesnt hit the floor. With a sigh, you take your other hand away from your face and hold both your hands up by your head "This is what I meant when I said I should be down in the crowd with you guys, Im literally one of you! I will in fact fight a hoe in order to retain my title as Ethan trash number one!"
From within the screams of the audience, you hear several fans challenging you to a fight.
You roll your eyes and playfully click to your tongue as you lean back in your chair "None of you stand a chance." You quickly launch yourself forward and huddle your hands around your mic "But also please dont ever take me seriously or actually try to fight me because I am very timid and afraid and I just enjoy banter."
Ethan scooches over to wrap an arm around your shoulders "Even if you lost a fight, you wouldnt lose me."
You place your hands over your heart and close your eyes as the audience chooses to yell in response to Ethan's words.
"Izzy, this cute moment stemmed from your question, and I thank you for that." You smile at the girl still standing at the mic, who is now trying not to cry.
"You're welcome!" She squeaks, before running off, causing you and Ethan to chuckle.
But despite the cute moment being over, Ethan's arm stays slung loosely around your shoulders, and you find yourself slowly leaning into him as the panel goes on, until you two are close to cuddling on the couch, but not quite.
