Before Josh could say anything to reassure who he was, the boy shook away.
"What's wrong boy?" Josh asked.
"Don't go near me." The boy said. "I don't trust you."
"Boy, I don't mean any harm. I promise."
Josh tried to get closer to him.
"No!" The boy cried. "Go away!"
The boy ran away. Only this time, he didn't chase after him. He let him disappear back into the gardens. The man didn't understand why he was afraid of him. Maybe he wasn't used to being around people.
Maybe he really is a flower.
As Josh looked across the field of bushes, Jenna came behind him.
"Josh? Why are you so down?"
"It's nothing Jenna." He said.
"Did you see anyone?"
"No, I didn't."
Jenna scoffed.
"Of course you did. I've seen you with that strange boy."
"He's a flower Jenna, not a human."
Jenna tried to convince him. But he brushed it off. He was too sad to admit that the boy was real.
He knew he was real. But he didn't want the girl to know about him.
Maybe he's in love with him. He's not sure though.
Disheartened, Josh took Jenna's hand and walked off back to the car, driving home.
In the middle of the night, as Jenna slept, Josh fantasized about the boy. How he looked like the sunflower he'd seen in the gardens. How beautiful he looked. It was all that rolled through his mind.
It was too much for him to handle. He needed to see him again.
He had to.
