Puppy dog eyes

chapter ● 6

After we finished eating our waffles (jonah had 4 the greedy pig😂) we went up into jonah's room although I guess you could call it our room as I've been living there for weeks.

He throws a hoodie at me.( I've literally been living in his shirts but all his pants were too big so we went to the mall and bought me some.I really didn't want to go back home. )
"Get dressed we're going out" he spoke with a huge grin on his face
"Why do I not trust you?" I laugh, scared of what's to come.
"It's good I promise but you have to go get dressed"

I go into his bathroom and slip on the hoodie and some black skinny jeans. I smell his aftershave on the hoodie and can't help but smile. I do my hair into a ponytail. I never wear makeup.

I walk out and he pulls me into a hug straight away, picks me up and I wrap my legs around him. He kisses my nose and I grin like an idiot
"You ready for an adventure?" He says
"Born ready"
He carries me down and I lay my head in the crook of his neck. God I'm lucky to have this boy.
He carries me downstairs and outside he sets me down next to his car.
"Ma lady" he gestures into the passenger side while opening the door.

I climb in and he goes round to the passengers side. I grab the aux chord before he can and play his very first ep, 'when the daylights gone'. He seems embarrassed but I'm not sure why cos some of my favorite songs are on this ep.

As he drive he rests his hand on my thigh. I try not to blush but fail massively. Twirling my hair I sing along to the song. He pulls over.

We are at the lake on the other side of the woods. It's beautiful. There are loons everywhere. He grabs a picnic basket from the trunk and sets down a blanket in between two trees that have fairylights strung between them.
"When did you do all this" I say amazed by the beauty
"I got Esther to do it for me this morning, you didn't really believe that SHE was going for a run did you?" He laughs and wraps his arm round me placing his hand on the small of my back.
"I had my doubts" I smile back.
He kisses me on the temple and I grab his hand that is resting on his knee. Intertwining our fingers.

"You know evie, you made me happy since the second we met. You found my dog and ever since then you've basically been living with me. My parents see you as their own child as well and Esther sees you as a sister.  I was wondering,if after all this time of making me happy, would you make me the happiest man on earth and be my girlfriend... officially?"

He looks at me, his eyes filled with hope. I smile at him and kiss his cheek
"Of course I will jojo " we intertwine both our hands and our lips grow closer until they connect. We kiss for a while before pulling away and looking over the frozen lake.

"I love you evie. And I will do anything to protect you" he leans on my shoulder. It kind of makes him seem kind of vulnerable. It's cute. I like it. Wait no. I love it. I love him.
