chapter ● 28

I fell asleep crying in zachs arms. I woke up and walk through to the kitchen. Trying not to disturb zach. I see jonah standing drinking a coffee.

"Oh uh... hi" I give him a weak smile but he just turns away. He pours the rest of his coffee away and walks out.
Zach walks in and puts his hand on my shoulder.
"He'll come round. Don't worry." I pull him into a hug and fight back tears as he rubs my back.
"Hey look at me, evie." I look up and he puts two of his fingers on my chin so I concentrate on him.

"You are the love of his life evie. He can't stay mad at you forever. I bet he'll be fine by tomorrow. Probably tonight." He strokes my hair.
"You really think so?"
"I know so. Come on. Life's short we don't have time to sit around being sad. Were going out!"
"Where?"
"Chipotle duhh where else would you go if your sad?"
I laugh him off and we go get in his car.
"Seriously? Your driving? Looks like I'm not gonna live long enough for jonah to forgive me!" I laugh but accidently hurt myself with my own words.

Zach notices. " hey. He doesn't have to forgive you cos you have nothing to be sorry for. He's just upset that he wasn't there for you sooner. It's all he talks about when you aren't there. And to now find out they would physically hurt you? He's broken evie." He puts his hand on my thigh as he drives but I ignore it. He promised he wouldn't try anything. We pull up to Chipotle and he moves his hand.
I internally sigh of relief. I don't wanna be with zach. I'm jonahs.

We walk into Chipotle and there he is. I hesitate and pull back.
"Zach I don't wanna. Not while jonahs here at least."
"It's fine. Were just gonna get food that's all."
"Zach please"
"What do you want evie?!" Zach shouts causing jonah to turn around.
I go to leave but he runs after me.
"Evie! Wait up!" I stop.
"You wanna talk to me? But this morning you..."
"Yeah I fucked up. But I can't be mad at you for something that isn't your fault.im sorry I was a dick.  But all that I care about now is that you're in a family you love and have a boyfriend who you hopefully still love? " I smirk.

"I don't have a boyfriend though..." he looks broken.
"Wha...what?"
I hold up my hand with the ring on it.
"I have a fiancé" he picks me up and kisses me over and over again.
"I love you soo much baby!"
I kiss his nose and lay my head in the crook of his neck. Looking over his shoulder to see a somewhat disheartened Zach.  He gives me a half-hearted  smile and a thumbs up.
He mouths the words
"I'm happy for you" but then walks away. I pat jonah shoulder so he puts me down and run after Zach.  I put my hand on his arm stroking it a little.
"Thank you so much Zach. Your such a great guy! Please don't be sad. " I give him a pouty lip.
"It's just hard seeing the girl of your dreams with a different guy. I'm happy for you though. As long as your happy I'm happy." I hug him
"I'm so sorry Zach. But trust me, a guy as great as you? You're bound to find someone soon." He smiles and nods towards jonah.
"Your prince awaits." He laughs a tiny bit but it's so unconvincing. I kiss him on the cheek.

"Thank you for being the best bestie ever. I'm sorry we can't be what you want us to be..." he walks back to his car and I go to jonah.

Me and jonah intertwine our fingers and walk as he swings our arms back and forth.
"Everything okay with Zach? I feel so bad for stealing you from him. Who knows what I'd do if I couldn't have you! You're irresistible!"
