Chapter 29

Catalina's POV

We are all currently suggesting themes for our prom at the dinner table. The only weird thing is I'll be the youngest one there and unfortunately with no date but being stuck with my siblings 'friends' more like a neighbor and his jealous girlfriend, of course I know about her in not entirely oblivious. Joined by a small child as they like to referring to me as.

"Under the Sea?"

"Masquerade?"

"Ooh."

"Mardi Gras?" Jesus suggests

"Okay, you all have a very low opinions of prom committee if you think we're that unoriginal."

"Take it easy."

"I remember the theme of my prom."

"It was 'Right Here, Right Now.'"

"The Jesus Jones's' song." Mom says as confusion is etched across each and every one of our faces.

"Nobody? Wow, I'm old."

"Anyway, we moved prom up this year, so we don't have to compete for venues, but now we're way behind."

"So I was hoping my lovely family could pitch in."

"Anyone?"

"Can I even go to prom?"

"I'm probably not gonna go. Aaron's in college."

"Yeah, same here."

"Hey, I'm home!" Mama says walking in the door

"Wait, you have to go." Mama says directing to Callie and Brandon

"You're seniors."

"This could be ABCC's last prom ever."

"That is a good theme." Mariana gasps

"'The Last Dance.'"

"Well, I wouldn't count on that."

"Because Monte and I just met with a board member and it took some convincing, but she offered to give her vote to the students."

"Wow!"

"That's amazing!"

"The students are 1,000 percent gonna vote against going private."

"Hopefully, we are one vote closer to saving Anchor Beach."

"Uh, so now that you both are here, I know this is kind of last minute, but Mike and Ana's engagement party has to be this weekend."

"Uh, uh, that's awfully fast."

"Well, the wedding's in a month."

"What's the rush?" Mom asks

"I guess AJ's turning 18 and he's moving into Ana's apartment, so Ana's moving in with Dad, and the Gutierrezes would prefer they aren't, like, living in sin."

"And this is the only weekend that works for everyone."

"So, Mom, could you help me run some errands? Oh, no, that is your deal, Brandon."

"Yeah, we'll help on the day, but you're the best man."

"Uh, can Emma come?" Jesus asks hopeful

"Come on, it's been a week."

"So I can see her, right?"

"Honey, it's a family party, so no girlfriends or boyfriends."

"Uh, Emma's not just my girlfiend."

"Right."

"She's your fiancé." Mariana says earning a glare from Jesus

"Mariana." Mom scolds

"I'm done."

"Hey, could you please ask to be excused?"

"Yeah"

"Can I be excused?"

"Yes, you may."

"Thanks."

"Is he ever gonna be normal again?" Mariana asks only worried about her twin brother

"Save Anchor Beach." Mariana begins

"Protect our public charter."

"Anchor Beach Academy is fascist." Jude adds

"Keep Anchor Beach free." Taylor says handing a flyer

"Hey! Don't be fooled by empty promises."

"Can we count on your vote?"

"I don't know."

"Have you seen the model?"

"What model?"

"Holy" Jude and I say in unison

"Crap." Mariana finishes

We stood there looking in awe at the model for Anchor Beach Academy before us and boy it looks extremely modern. I'm not saying that I like it but it definitely has some appeals to it. But I have this weird feeling that I can't shake saying that this deal is far from what we think it is. Although I shrug it off and try to compose myself seeing as we are passing out flyers to vote against this.

"So legit." I some guy say

"Right?" A girl agrees

"Seriously" the boy says again

A/N just to begin thank you so much for 3k reads. I know it might not seem like a lot of reads but to me it does so I thank you for that. Ok so I apologize for an extremely short chapter I didn't really know what to write but I wrote something. I have already published the first chapter to my Liam Dunbar book and let me tell I'm the most proud of that book. I have already pre written and editing 9 chapters and let me tell you they are so much better in compare to this book. Not saying that I hate this book but the other one is definitely showing the improvements and how well my chapters turn out if I actually put all my time and effort into them.
