"hey mr stark- um, tony okay? i can call you t-tony right?" peter mumbled, the childlike wonder in his eyes dim. "i thought i- i should come and visit you. y'know..." he trailed off, focused on keeping himself grounded and not slipping into memory of that moment. "everyone misses you a whole lot. e-even clint, though he wont admit it" peter chuckled, still stammering. the wind blew softly around him, flowers dancing beneath his feet. "i mean, the avengers just aren't the same without you" he choked back tears, attempting to eradicate the hurt he felt. he lay down the bouquet of beautiful roses underneath the headstone, trailing his fingers across the writing.

1970-2019
beneath all the glitz and glamour of the stark lifestyle, tony was a simple man who had vowed to have a semi-normal headstone- a kind of final 'fuck you' to all the naysayers, proof of his humanity. peter smiled at the thought, tears seeping out of his eyes. taking a deep breath, he began to speak once again. "i came here today to thank you tony. for everything. you changed my life and saved it too" peters mind drifted to thanos' snap. he shook his head, letting his emotions take control. dropping to his knees in the freshly dug dirt, he sobbed, chest heaving. "t-thank you for being the best dad i could've asked for..." as peter closed his eyes he could almost feel tony's hand on his shoulder, comforting him. silvery stains of tears traced his face, his brown hair matted against his neck with sweat. eventually he stood up, feeling something missing where the only father he'd ever had had been snatched from him. looking at the crumpled paper in his hand, peter smiled to himself. he pressed the scotch tape over the sides, sticking it to the headstone.
