nightmare

i twisted and turned, sweat beading together on my forehead. my entire body shook violently. i screamed.
i was paralysed, cold and completely naked. the fire burned brightly around me, orange and red hues blinding me. the masked man moved closer to me, swiping a knife across my face and leaving a deep gash. he moved closer. then away, then closer again; taunting me. i writhed under my restraints but couldn't move. i screamed.
"y/n! whats wrong?" bucky cried, clutching me tightly. the bed sheets were wrapped around my limbs from where i had been thrashing in fear. the trauma of the nightmare was still evident in my fear-induced convulsions. bucky pulled me into his chest, kissing my head repeatedly. "ssh its okay darling. i'm here. it was just a nightmare. ssh" he murmured, stroking my head. "everything's okay, i'm here. i will never let anything happen to you beautiful. i'll always be here to protect you" he left a gentle kiss on my lips. "i love you" i whispered.
