Major
I went to see Nash and explain things to him before Luna did. I checked the bakery, and he was there, thank god. And so was his brothers, shit.
I went inside and over to him as he was setting up a display case.
"Hey Nash," I greeted him as he stopped, and so did his brothers. "I mean, can I call you Nash?" He looked at me, weird. "Okay, Mr. Gray, it is," I said nervously.
"Speed this up before we're too old to give a shit," Nixon said to me.
"I was wondering if I could talk to you about Luna?" I asked Nash.
The brothers started crowding me. "What about Luna?" Nolan asked.
Damn it, that was not what I wanted to happen.
Nash stepped forward. "Talk."
"I ran into Luna at the bookstore while getting some books, and she saw some about romance and relationships. She thinks I'm trying to romance some other girl," I said to him.
"Well, are you?" Nash asked me.
"No," I answered. I gave Nash a look.
"Then why buy books like that?" Nash asked me.
"Because I'm trying to figure out how to win her back. I screwed up," I sighed.
"That's an understatement," Nathan said.
"Yep," Noah added.
"Let me get this straight; you thought you would buy romance books to win Luna back only to have it blow up in your face? Gee that reminds me of this tool," Nixon said, pointing to Nash, "who was always screwing things up."
Nash gave him a look. "Excuse me, but I fixed it."
"Only with help, a lot of help. You needed so much help; we thought we had to call in the national guard for your tool ways," Nixon retorted.
Nash rolled his eyes.
"What my tool brothers are getting at is that sometimes you need help. Major, you did a number on Luna, playing with her emotions. Normally we would beat the hell out of you, but we get it," Nolan said.
"I don't know if it should scare or relieve me," I told him.
"It should relieve you, considering Luna is precious to Nolan," Nathan added.
"And stop being a damn tool. Christ, no girl wants that," Noah said.
Nash looked at me and rubbed his chin. "Look, I appreciate you getting brave and coming here. Most guys wouldn't, that's why we're taking it easy on you, but if you want Luna, work for it," Nash told me.
"I know. I've been trying to figure out what to do," I sighed.
"Then let us hand it, Gray style," Nixon said.
They all looked at each other and smiled. I don't know if it should scare me or not. I guess I will find out.
Luna
I came home feeling dejected. I took a seat on the couch and laid my head back. Ma walked into the room and took a position next to me. She did the same thing.
"What are we looking at?" Ma asked.
"My life and how it's a disaster," I sighed.
"Oh, well, that sucks," she shrugged.
I turned and looked at her.
"You're a big help," I grumbled.
She looked at me and smiled. "Well, you can either dwell on the pity party you're having, or you can show Major that you don't need anyone. It's your choice."
I thought about it. Maybe there was something to what Ma was saying. I mean, if I pine over Major, I would always be miserable, but if I just moved on, I could be happy. I guess glad it is.
"I think I will do that. Thanks, Ma," I said as I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.
Then Dad and my uncles walked into the house.
"Dare I ask why you brought the army with you?" Ma asked Dad.
"Because we know how much you love us, you twit," Nixon answered, causing me to laugh.
"Nixon, you're still a royal pain in the ass, you know that," she countered.
"Yeah, but you're even a bigger one, so we're even," he smirked.
I couldn't help but laugh.
"So, Lu," Nolan said, slapping his hands together and walking over to us, taking a seat on the coffee table. "We got to thinking about your situation."
"You're right, Uncle Nolan, and so is ma," I said, cutting him off.
"We are?" Nolan asked with confusion.
"Yeah, I'm just going to move on and be happy. Let Major find someone that makes him happy," I said.
"Wait," Nolan started to say.
"It's all good. I feel better already," I said, getting up and going upstairs.
"What just happened?" Nolan asked them.
They all looked at Ma. "She just happened," Nathan groaned.
"Mags, what did you do?" Dad asked her.
"I told her to stop pining for him," she shrugged.
"Aaarrrgh," Nixon said.
"What's his problem?" She asked Dad.
"Major came to us. Major wants to get Luna back, and you screwed it up," Nixon told her.
She stood up. "Excuse me?"
"What part of screwing shit up, don't you understand? The screw or the up part," Nixon huffed.
"How about the tool part, which all of you are being? First, I didn't know Major came to you, well, all of you. Second, you all screw things up enough. Now get your head out of your asses and realize that if you give her false hope, I will have no option but to call Grammy," she threatened.
"She's got the point," Noah said.
"Shut up," Nixon told him.
"This isn't getting us anywhere," Nathan said to them.
"Then what do you suggest Einstein," Nixon asked.
"I suggest we do this the Gray way," Nathan answered, causing them all to smile.
"Here we go again," Ma said.
Here's a piece of advice, never get the brothers involved in your love life. It will either end up disastrous or end up disastrous. There isn't any middle ground with them.
I had a feeling things were about to get interesting with Major and me now that it involved ma, Dad, and the brothers. God, help me.
