Luna
Well, I confirmed my suspicions. Thanks to Kain and his big fat mouth, my family and the Harper's aren't talking to me. It upset my parents, as are my uncles. Ever felt like a pariah? That's exactly how I was with everyone.
I tried to talk to them, but in their words, "Nice to know our sister prefers to dupe us and use our feelings against us."
My parents told me to get my shit together. Uncle Nolan told me it disappointed him in me. Well, Christmas should be fun when we get home. Maybe if I disappeared into oblivion, they wouldn't notice.
I called the one person I didn't want to call Grammy.
Yeah, that didn't go well. Grammy told me I made my bed now. I had to lie in it. The operative word being a lie. Thanks, Kain, you freaking tool.
No one would help me. So, I helped myself. I checked my bank account and found I had enough money to rent a place. I found a rental. That way, I could finish school, and no one would have to deal with me.
I looked around and found one. I contacted the landlord and paid a deposit. Then I went back to the house, packing up my stuff.
Lyric found me packing.
"What are you doing?" Lyric asked.
"Why do you care?" I asked as I packed.
"Luna," Lyric said.
"Excuse me; I need to pack. When I finish, you all can go on with your perfect lives. I mean, who cares, that you all lied. So, let me finish, and I won't be around for you to all ice me out," I told Lyric as I finished.
"We're angry. But we'll get over it," Lyric reasoned.
"That's fine. Take your time. Excuse me," I said as I walked past Lyric with my stuff. She tried to stop me. We struggled, and I lost my footing.
"Luna!" Lyric yelled.
I tumbled down the stairs and knocked out. After that, I don't know what happened.
I woke and looked around. My arm and leg hurt as I lifted my hand to see a cast, fantastic. I looked down to see a cast on my leg, even better.
"Luna," I heard Dad say. I looked to see my family standing there, fantastic.
"Honey," Mom said with worry.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about me," I told everyone as I turned away only to see Major, ugh. Not only did I have a broken arm and leg, but since it sticks me in bed, I got to lay there listening to everyone lecture me.
"Well, since I can't move, yell at me. I mean, you all want to do it. So, let me save you the hassle. I'm a screwup, a twit, a liar. I deserve everything that happened to me, and I'm a horrible person. Don't worry; I get it. Once I'm out of here, I will be in my place and finish school. I also got a job lined up to help with bills," I told them.
"Luna," I heard a voice say as I turned to see Grampa Nate.
He and nana were the only ones I hadn't talked to yet. I was afraid if I called them, it would upset them with me. I didn't want them upset with me.
"I'm sorry, Grampa. I sorry I'm a horrible person. Please, don't be disappointed with me," I begged him.
"Sweetheart, we're not disappointed with you. We're disappointed in them," he said as he pointed at everyone else.
"What these tools forget is they all have lied and screwed up, but we forgave them," nana added.
I looked at her.
"Grammy told me I made my bed and needed to lie in it," I whispered.
"Because you need to own up to your mistakes and not run from them," Grammy said to me.
I stared at her as she sat in a chair.
"I swear you kids all think I'm senile. I'm old, but I know what the hell I'm talking about with life," she said a matter of fact.
"Lu, we were angry, but families get angry, but they also still love and care about you," Uncle Nolan reminded me.
"Yeah," I whispered. I lied to everyone. It was something I needed to deal with now.
"If you're still angry with me, I understand. I deserve it. I promise to allow you to be angry. When you're ready to forgive me, I'll understand," I told everyone. I mean, what else was there to say? I made my choice, and they made theirs. It was a consequence I had to live with now.
A week later, they released me, and I still moved into my place. I got some people to help me. I didn't want to ask my family or anyone else for help. It wasn't fair to them even though they tried to talk me out of it. I told them it was my punishment for lying. I deserved it.
I made do to getting around. It was challenging, but I got the hang of it. You learn how to do things for yourself when you need it.
Except I ended up dropping a book in the hallway. People walked by, not bothering to help me - a little help here, people.
As I struggled to pick up my book, I was getting frustrated by the minute until I saw a hand pick it up. I looked up to see Major holding it.
I got situated and took the book from him, "Thanks."
"No problem," Major said.
"I guess I never apologized for slapping you. I'm sorry," I apologized.
"Yeah," Major said.
"Well, I won't keep you. I promise to leave you alone," I said truthfully.
He looked at me as I turned and started hopping away.
"What if I don't want you to leave me alone?" I heard him yell.
I stopped.
He walked over to me as I turned around with a hop.
"What?" I asked.
"What if I don't want you to leave me alone?" Major asked me.
"But I lied to you and got mad at you for something you did when I was wrong to do so," I reasoned.
"So?" Major asked.
"So, you should be angry with me. I deserve it," I replied.
"I should, but I'm not," he said sincerely.
"Major, you deserve better than me. All I do is make you angry and upset," I told him.
"You make me happy," Major told me.
I looked at him, a bit surprised.
"Luna, we aren't the same people we were. Yeah, I was angry at first, but my heart won't let me stay that way. Seeing you alone broke it. Seeing you struggle now, breaks it," he said truthfully.
I didn't know what to say. My heart ached. All I wanted was my family and Major, being alone sucks.
"I promised to love your heart. I never break a promise. We can't change the past. All we can do is go forward," Major said.
"So, you still love me," I asked him.
"Always and forever," he answered.
"Well, it's official," I said.
"What is?" He asked.
"I'm a dumbass and stubborn," I sighed.
He chuckled. "You have no arguments there."
"Thanks." I rolled my eyes.
"But I wouldn't want it any other way," he said as I looked at him.
I stood there until he walked up and picked me up. "Major!"
"Hush, woman! You need help. Stop being so damn stubborn," Major barked as he started walking. Okay, that was hot.
I didn't know what would happen from here. I just knew that whatever happened was to happen.
