Luna
We went to homecoming, and hopefully, things go okay. The reason I say the fine is that if I learned anything, the minute you think they will be great is when you get smacked in the face.
I'm not a pessimist, but I learned things don't always work out the way you expect them to do. I guess having time alone will show you the world differently.
Everyone already made their way to the dance. I waited on Major and lo-and-behold; he didn't show, figures. I went alone. That's what I was familiar with doing. Even though I thought things were better, something would always end up with me being alone.
When I arrived, people were dancing. I saw my family with their dates. Screw this; I'm going home. I turned and came face to face with Major. He stood there, holding flowers.
"I was running behind, trying to find your favorite flowers. Do you know how hard it is to find blue roses?" Major asked me.
I looked at him as a smile crept on my face. As he handed me the roses, I took them. Lex walked by us, and I handed him the flowers. He gave me a strange look, rolling his eyes as I took Major's hand, leading him to the dance floor.
Major pulled me into his arms and started to dance with me.
"Luna, I realized something," he said as I looked at him while we danced.
"What's that?" I asked.
"You are breaking up with me was the best thing ever," Major said.
I furrowed my brows at him.
"Because it made me realize how much in love with you, I am," he added.
I stopped and looked at him.
"You drive me crazy, but it drove me crazier when we weren't together. I felt like nothing matters that I all I wanted was you. I've always wanted you. Luna, I love you," he said sincerely.
At that moment, I was afraid. No, it terrified me. So, I ran. My head told me one thing as my heart said something differently. I heard Major yelling, but I ran until he caught.
"Luna!" Major yelled.
He spun me around.
"I can't," I said as I tried to hold my composure.
"You can't what?" He looked at me with furrowed brows.
"I can't have my heart broken again!" I snapped.
He stopped and looked at me.
"What? I thought," Major said.
"When we broke up, I was alone. I didn't have my siblings, family around, and I didn't have you. I was alone. It was the worst feeling in the world," I said as tears fell.
My family came out of the dance.
"I've always been insecure and had to learn to be alone. Do you have any idea what that's like to feel that way? How, at that moment, you realize no one wants you? Then some girl keeps going after the one thing your heart wants?" I asked.
Tears welled up as I stood there, and he looked at me.
"But I want you. My heart wants you," Major pleaded. Major walked over to me. He placed his hands on my face, "I can't tell you it will be easy because nothing is easy with us, but I will tell you it will be worth it. I know your heart wants me as much as mine wants you. Please, Luna, let me love you," he begged.
Then I heard someone say, "The heart wants, what the heart wants."
I looked at Lyric as she smiled. Uncle Noah always said that, and he said it to her when she was trying not to fall for Michael because of Daniel.
