Luna
Major helped me. I couldn't apologize enough to him, but he told me it's what you do when you love someone. My guilt wasn't helping.
My family started talking to me again, but there was still an iciness when they speak to me. I didn't blame them. Falling down the stairs was an accident, and my fault. I was stubborn, and because of it, I got hurt.
We were going home for Christmas, even though things would be tense. When we arrived, I was right. Things were pretty stiff. Also, though my parents welcomed me home, it was a polite demeanor they had.
I apologized, and it's met with indifference. Even my siblings went about their business, leaving me to deal with my guilt on my own. Boy, did I feel guilty?
I stayed in my room. Since I was dealing with a broken leg and arm, I did things on my own. When I went down to the kitchen, my parents watched me. A few words spoke, but that was about it.
Major was busy with his family. I couldn't ask him to take time away from them. It wasn't fair. He had already done enough for me.
Since it confined me to my surroundings, I just wrote. It was the only thing I had at the moment.
I heard a knock at the door. I looked up from my writing, "Hungry," Dad asked.
"Um, no, thanks for the offer," I said, giving him a soft smile as he looked at me then walked away. Okay, Dad's still pissed.
A little while later, Ma brought me a plate of food and something to drink.
"Thanks," I said.
"Yep," she said as she turned and left. Yep, Ma's still pissed too.
I looked at the food and got up, hopping around, I picked up the plate, then scooted my butt down the stairs. Once I got up on my right leg, I picked up the plate and took it to the table where everyone was sitting. I set it down as they looked at me.
"I know everyone is still angry, and don't deny it because you are. I can apologize repeatedly, but I have to deal with your anger. So, I'm just going to make myself scarce and buy my food. I can stay with Grampa and nana," I offered.
"Luna," Dad said.
"It's okay. I created this mess. I lied and got hurt because of it. Kain threw me under the bus because he figured I needed a knocking down. Major seems to have forgiven me, but I know he's just nice. I mean, it's okay not wanted or dealt with people," I said, feeling hurt. I refuse to cry.
There was a knock at the door, and Dad got up to answer it.
"Ma, Dad, what are you doing here," Dad asked our grandparents.
They walked in and looked at him and the rest of the family.
"We're here to fix our broken family at the moment. Call your brothers and nephews along with our daughters-in-law," Grampa demanded.
Ma looked at them as my siblings glared at me, great.
Everyone arrived and stood there as Grampa and nana looked at them with crossed arms and serious looks. Nana looked at them. "How is it, we try to raise decent people, yet they turn out to the biggest tools that walked the face of the earth?"
"How are we tools?" Nixon asked her.
Grampa looked at him, "Going along when people are wrong is just as bad. Need we remind you of your college days when you fucked up?"
"No," he grumbled.
Nana looked at them. "All of you have done things that weren't exactly stellar situations. But we forgave you."
