[Above is the trailer I made for this story, new readers I hope you enjoy :) ]
I hated living here. It smelled like shit, everyone in my town always seemed to give unwanted attitude if you happened to walk down the street.
I didn't have a car so as always I walked to school, back pack slung around my shoulder as I take a drag of my cigarette. It's my senior year and we're in the second month, also my favorite month of the year.
October.
I flick the ash off the tip of my cig before taking another drag and round the corner. I was probably a five minute walk away or less from the school now, and that's usually when-
"Hey, Alice." I look beside me and roll my eyes. As I was saying that's usually when curls over here would come bother me.
"Curls." He frowns and his eyebrows furrow.
"I don't know why you always call me that, you know my name." I sigh deeply.
"Luke," I smirk and take a puff. "You happy?"
"Very," He smiles and eyes me. "So how'd you sleep?"
I flick my cig on the ground and step on it.
"Fine, as good as I'll ever sleep I guess." He stares at me worriedly.
"You know, you're so... I don't know-"
"Miserable," I cut him off. "Cold, unbothered? Trust me I've heard them all." I laugh. Luke shakes his head and smiles.
"I meant to say intriguing." I roll my eyes yet again.
"Look whatever you want Luke, I told you a thousand times it ain't happening buddy." He scoffs.
"What? I don't want a thing from you," I look over at him and raise an eyebrow. "Alright I mean sure but cmon you're hot." I laugh.
"Why, thank you."
"Anytime." We walk and get to the school just as the bell rings for first block. As we get inside the last amount of students in the hallways are rushing to get to their classes.
"See you in chemistry then, oh! And art class... and lunch maybe?" I laugh.
"I'll think about lunch." He looks me over one last time before making his way to his class. I smile.
You know, he was kind of a cutie.

As the teacher goes over algorithms and theorems, I sit in my chair, legs rested on top of my desk and my attention towards my phone. I sigh as I scroll through Instagram, observing people that go here that I didn't even like. They were so fake and unoriginal, posting a pic of themselves and a friend who they literally just talked shit about last week. It's weird how high school works. I'm so glad I don't have a group of friends.
I didn't have friends yet I knew everything about everyone. I'm observant, I listen.
"Alice." My teacher looks over at me, annoyance written all over his face but I can't bring myself to care. I advert my eyes his way, taking them away from my phone a short moment.
"Mhm?"
"Please put your feet down and stay off your phone." I look around.
"And who am I bothering by doing so?" I reply and I hear some people Oooo. I roll my eyes.
"Me, please for once just behave and do what you're told." I shrug.
"Whatever you say pops." People laugh. I put my feet down but continue to stay on my phone. I notice Mr. Williams advance towards me. He puts his hand out.
"Alright, hand it over," I stare up at him and roll my eyes, handing him my phone. "You'll get it at the end of class."
"Whatever." He smiles and then continues with his lesson, walking back to the front. I close my eyes, trying to ignore him speaking about math and equations, which was just giving me a headache. I play with the rip in my fishnets, bored.
On second thought, I needed a new pair.
The bell finally rings after almost an hour and I shoot up out of my desk and make my way to the front. I stand in front of Mr. Williams and hold my hand out.
"It's the end of class." I smirk. He rolls his eyes and takes my phone out of his drawer before sighing.
"I know you're capable of more Alice. You're a smart girl." He gives me my phone and I ignore him.
"I know what I'm capable of, but thank you." With that said I leave class, walking down the hallway.
I walk to the double doors down the hall that lead to the back outside. Once I'm out, I go through my backpack to find my box of cigarettes. I take one out, ready to light it until I realize I don't have my lighter.
"Fuck." I search through my bag and sigh. I left it home after lighting my first one.
"Need a light?" Someone speaks behind me. I look and it's a boy with short hair, curls slightly building at the sides and top. He had pretty, hazel eyes which were more green at the moment.
"Uh, yeah. Could you spare one?" He nods and takes one out of his pocket. He hands it to me and I light my cig. "Thank you." He nods, and does the same for himself.
"Your name's Alice, hm?" I watch him as he takes it upon himself to sit beside me.
"Yeah... how do you know? Who are you?" He eyes me confidently. He smirks.
"You're pretty popular, bad behavior goes a long way," He takes a drag of his. "I'm Ashton. I see we've already got something in common." He eyes my cig and I roll my eyes.
"Don't even try it. I've seen pretty boys like you try at me all the time, I know what you really want." He shrugs.
"Maybe, I mean that'd just be a bonus." I stare at him. He seems different than others who'd bow at my feet oddly enough.
"A bonus?"
"Yeah, I'd like to get to know you, though I know you don't give anyone the time of day." He blows his smoke upward, so it doesn't come at my face. I smirk. "But you're hot, and I'm sure you already know that." I found it weird how easy our conversation is flowing.
"Everyone would and I'm confident but I'm far from full of myself." He nods and looks down at my fishnets.
"You think I could maybe get your number?" He looks me in the eyes and for a moment I get lost. He was attractive, like more so than most and I can't help but think about how he kissed or touched. I lick my lips.
"Um yeah, sure." He nods and we take out our phones, handing them to each other to save phone numbers.
"Daddy?" I laugh as I read the contact name. He stands up and puts his phone in his pocket. He throws his cig on the ground.
"You'll understand soon." He smirks and kicks it out before making his way back to the double doors.
"Smooth." He looks back at me and winks before heading inside.
Ashton. I gotta remember that.
