Luke
Calum chose to stay at my house with my dad. They met before so I'm sure they'll get along fine.
I can't get the way Alice looked out of my head. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Her hair was a mess, but she made it look so good. Her legs crossed up in the air as she lay on her stomach, scrolling through her phone. She was effortlessly beautiful, and the mental image tugged at my mind.
She would never be mine, not with Ashton trying to take her away.
I had no chance and I was finally starting to realize that.
What hurt most is the fact that I know I could make her the happiest person alive, I know I could help her get better but there wasn't a chance for me to try. She didn't want me.
I make my way up Sierra's front porch steps, getting my phone out to shoot her a text.
Me: I'm outside.
I stand outside her door patiently, tapping my foot.
And all I could think about was what Allie was doing.
Probably Ashton.
A few more moments pass until Sierra opens her door, revealing her bubbly, smiley self. She moves aside.
"Hey." I move past her and walk in. I've been here before, only once. It was a nice place, very homey. You could tell her parents made a lot of money.
"No mum today?"
"No, she's off to work til late tonight, and you know dad's schedule, same as hers." Her parents were both doctors, so you could imagine they make enough money.
"Oh." There was an awkward silence, unusal for us. When we hung out there was never a moment of silence.
"You alright?" She asks. I look over to her and notice her frown at me. I lean my back against the wall separating the kitchen and dining room. I sigh.
"As alright as I'll ever be I guess."
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I shake my head.
"I'd rather not if that's okay with you." I wanted to stop thinking about Allie. I hated that my every thought centered around her.
"That's okay, no problem at all. We can just watch a movie? I'll get popcorn." That's what I liked about Sierra. She knew boundaries and she's always so kind. We needed more people like her in this world.
"Yeah, that'd be really cool. Thanks." I smile and she nods.
"No problem." She goes into the kitchen to get the popcorn ready while I set up Netflix. I take a seat on the living room couch, scrolling through lists of movies, not knowing which genre to pick.
"Hey, which genre? Horror, comedy or romance!?" I shout to her and she shouts back.
"Horror!" I smile. I was almost expecting her to say romance like any other girl would.
Except Allie, she loved horror.
Shut up.
Soon enough, Sierra comes back with popcorn and I start the movie. I come to the conclusion of picking Babadook. Whatever that meant.
She sits beside me on the couch, brushing arms with me and she looks at me quickly.
"Sorry." She scoots over a bit. I kinda liked her closer.
"No, it's fine."
"Oh, okay." She moved to how she was, a bit closer.
The movie was a bit boring, suddenly, she speaks up again.
"How come I didn't see you at Ashton's bonfire? I was hoping I would. I saw your friend there and thought you'd show up with her." I didn't really want to get into my feelings for Alice. She takes some popcorn and eats it as I talk.
"Well, Alice and I aren't on the best of terms at the moment." She frowns.
"Oh, why not?"
"It's a long story."
"I've got time," She shrugs. "Unless you really don't wanna talk about it. I don't wanna push you." I sigh.
"It's fine," I run a hand through my hair and take a deep breath. "So it turns out I was in love with her," I notice her face fall a bit. "And she's interested in Ashton so that'll never work. It slipped in conversation when we were arguing about something. And she went to the fire, ignored my messages all night so I went over to his to talk to her. Turned out she was still there and they were clearly busy." She frowns, getting the hint when I say busy.
"I'm sorry, Luke. You don't deserve that." I shrug.
"It's my fault. I knew they were talking, still seeing each other. The only one hurting me is myself for not getting it through my head." She continues to stare at me, a sad expression on her face.
"She's absolutely crazy, Luke," She takes my hand. "You're an incredible person. You're so kind and loving. You're sweet and you'll do anything to please the ones you love and that's evident."
"Thanks, Si." She smiles.
"Of course. Any girl would be lucky to have you." I stare at her. I don't know if it was because of my longing for love or just a passing thought, but she was beautiful. Alice was beautiful, but Sierra had her own special kind of beauty. She didn't have to wear makeup, she rarely ever did. Right now all she wore were grey sweatpants and a maroon hoodie with our school mascot on it. There was never a time where she was sarcastic or rude.
She was beautiful inside and out.
"Luke?" She laughs and I come out of my thoughts. I probably looked like a weirdo staring at her.
"I don't know why you're so kind to me." She smiles.
"Well is there a reason not to be?"
"I guess not." She stares at me and her smile slowly fades, she looks back at the TV.
"Something wrong?" She bites her lip and faces me again.
"I've got something to tell you." I nod, nothing she could tell me could scare me away.
"Okay, shoot then." She goes to speak but then laughs. I notice her face turn kinda red.
"It's so stupid." She looks down and I shake my head.
"Nothing you have to say is stupid." She looks at me again and groans, struggling to get it out.
"Fuck, okay," She smiles. "I really like you." I just kind of stare at her. Did she? How have I never picked that up? I don't think she showed any signs. Did she?
"Oh, okay." Is all I manage to get out and she sighs and hits herself lightly on the forehead.
"Shit, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. Just forget it. Really Sierra?" She speaks more to herself than to me and I laugh. She was cute. She frowns, her face turning beet red.
"How is this funny? This is so fucking embarrassing-" Before she can say anything else, I lean forward and place a soft kiss to her lips. It lingers and just as I feel her pull away, she comes back in and cups her hands at my cheeks. I pull back to look at her.
"You're fine." Almost instantly, she smiles at my words. And to my surprise, she pulls me in for another kiss.
