Chapter Twelve:

Mick stood there with a huge disgusting smirk on his face. I couldn't understand what I ever saw in this idiot. I really didn't want to talk to him. He was just going to get on my nerves, but I knew if I walked away from him then he would see that as a weakness. I wasn't willing to let him think that I was afraid of him. I just wished he would turn and walk away from me, but, of course, I was never that lucky. Maybe he would give me a reason to smack that smirk off his face because I would really enjoy that.

"Micky, baby, I've been looking all over you. Why'd you run off like that? Did you hear that loud music? It was so pretty," said a blond as she walked up to us. She was model pretty and simply dressed in her tank top and skinny jeans with heels, of course. She was nice enough, not what I would consider in Mick's league, which is why I didn't know why she was dating Mick.

"Oh, hi, are you one of Micky's friends? I'm Alice, by the way," she said, holding out a hand to me. It took her a while to notice that Mick was having a conversation with me before she interrupted. Maybe that was her flaw. She had to have one to be dating Mick. I mean, I was naive when he dated me.

"Ha, no, we're far from friends. We used to know each other, is all. No biggie. He was just telling me about the music. It was pretty loud," I said, quickly.

"Loud and beautiful," Alexander said from behind me.

He placed a hand on the small of my back to let me know he was there. I saw Mick's face fall. I was highly aware of how attractive the twins were because girls had been coming up to me asking me questions about them. News had spread that I knew them and that they would be staying for the entire year. Ever since then, I was bombarded with googly eyed girls, who wanted to know more about them.

Therefore, the fact that they were highly admired didn't escape me. Not that I was planning on dating either of them, ew, gross. Even though, they were dreamy to think about. No, stop with the dirty thoughts!

"What's gross?" Alexander asked. Had I said that out loud? Whoops...

"Just thought of something....gross that Mia has to do later and she needed my help with. Well, see you. Nice to meet you, Alice." I turned and walked off as quickly as possible, leaving them all standing there, dumbfounded. I really need to pay attention to what I say out loud and who's within hearing range.

"Hey, Raven," Caleb popped up beside me, surprising me.

"Oh my, you really need to not do that," I told him.

"Why, did I scare the tough, fearless Raven?" I looked at him, incredulously.

"Fearless and tough? Really? What would make you think that?"

"Well, tough because you did punch me, remember? I know I haven't forgotten."

"Oh, I didn't forget. I thought you would stop bothering my friend that way, but instead you moved on to bugging me. So what makes me fearless?"

"Coming back here after what they did to you." He looked me right in the eyes, all joking aside. His serious side was throwing me for a loop. I just couldn't get a read on this guy.

"Yeah?" I was inches away from him and I couldn't help but realize how close we were. We had stopped walking and I was nearly breathless. Whether it was because of the brisk walking or from Caleb's close proximity to me, I didn't know for sure. He had kissed me already. Sure it was only on the cheek, but my stupid hormones were making a damn big deal out of it.

"Hey, Raven!" Mia yelled out to me. It took a second for me to stop staring into Caleb's grey eyes to turn and acknowledge my best friend. I let out a breath and smiled at her.
