Chapter Seventeen:
He released my lips and my face all at once. I was a little disoriented, at first, but then realization struck me, hard. I reached up and slapped him and ran towards the doors. The crowd parted for me and I was none too glad to get out of there.
I ran as fast as my heels would allow me. I couldn't help but think of myself as Cinderella as I ran out. Funny because I wasn't your typical Cinderella and I hadn't lost a shoe, yet.
I reached the outdoors and fresh air. I couldn't believe what had happened. I thought the drama was over, but it had gotten ten times worse! I really couldn't wait to graduate. Why did I want to be popular so badly, anyway?
"Are you okay?" I turned to Ashton and smiled.
"I guess. I just needed some fresh air. Go ahead and go back inside. I'll be fine. I promise." He reluctantly walked back inside without another word.
"Well, I guess being popular isn't all it's cracked up to be, is it?" I heard a familiar voice and I dreaded turning around to see his ugly face. Mick was dressed as a football player. He strode towards me and fingered my massive wings. "I have to say, you look beautiful. I can't believe you're that quiet girl that I cheated on so long ago." Salt in the wound, much?
"What do you want, Mick?" I spat angrily at him.
"I love it when you say my name. How about a kiss, for old times sake?"
"You know, I think I'm all kissed out." I looked away from him at at the starry night sky.
"Well, too bad." He grabbed my arm, completely surprising me with his sudden roughness. I tried to get away from him. He pulled me into him and I wasn't strong enough to fight him off. He kissed my cheek because I turned away at the last second.
"Get off me!" I screamed. He was pulled off me and I fell to the floor. I looked up to see Reese on top of Mick pummeling him. "Hey, stop. You're killing him! Please, Reese."
He stopped when I said his name and got up off of Mick's unconscious form. I stood up slowly as Reese walked toward me. He caught me, before I could fall again. I looked up at his face, the mask had fallen off in the fight.
"Thank you," I whispered to him. He stared at me and I could feel his heart racing beneath my hand.
"I'm sorry for before--," I cut him off with my lips on his. I wanted to feel that kiss again and he didn't disappoint.

I woke up in a room that wasn't my own. I looked around the pale blue room and realized I was in a boy's room. I wasn't clothed and I was laying in a boy's bed. I looked to my left at Reese's sleeping form and slowly got up and slipped on my dress.
The previous night came flooding to the forefront of my mind. I remembered taking my wings and leaving them at home and then going to Reese's with a plan to watch a movie, but once we entered his empty house, things escalated very quickly. Before I knew it, I was no longer a virgin.
I slipped out of the room and pulled out my phone. I had several missed calls from Ashton and Alexander. My parents were out of town for their anniversary, so I called Alex. He had texted me that he had my bike and I would need a ride home.
"Where are you?" He answered. I told him the address as I walked out. I knew it wasn't far from my house and I could walk, but I wasn't planning on it. Not in high heels anyway.
"Come get me please."
He hung up after a muttered 'be right there' and not two minutes later he pulled up on my bike and I hopped on and he pulled away. I looked up at the house to see Reese looking down at us from his bedroom window. I waved at him before we drove off. I knew Alex had brought my bike for a reason, but I was too tired to bother with it.
