Chapter Twenty-Seven:

We sat in the diner talking about the upcoming New Year's Eve party, that they boys were planning. I was a little anxious for it, since it would be my first party without my best friend.

"Raven, you may not like this, but it's going to be a formal party." I looked up at Jaxon, who had been planning the party at some fancy venue.

"It's alright. I really don't have the money to buy a new dress, though. I spent it all on vacation. Oh, I have some little souvenirs for each of you," I said, remembering my small bag of items I had purchased on the island.

"I can ask my older sister if she has something you can probably borrow. You can come over before the party and get ready at my house. She's back for the holidays," Jaxon said. I hadn't known he had a sibling, but I didn't really know much about their personal lives, not really.

"Sounds good." I smiled.

"Hey, bug, I have a song I know you'll want to sing. It's coming on next."

Greg held out a mic and I got up and took it as the boys began to whoop and cheer, adding obnoxious whistles that drew the attention of the other patrons. I jumped up onto the counter, where  a small cushion had been placed. It was Greg's idea because I would sometimes sit there and sing along to the songs.

I waited for the song to end as I tapped my foot on the seat in front of me. "Someone Like You" by Adele began to play and I smiled sadly as I began to sing. It wasn't all true to the situation, but it was close enough as I sang to my 'old friend' and discreetly glanced their way. They had stopped talking, but wouldn't look my way as my voice playing over the loud speakers in the diner.

I didn't notice another patron enter the diner as I continued to sing my heart out. When the song ended, everyone clapped for me, but the newest patron walked up to me and smiled.

It was the guy from the airport. I set the mic down and leaned forward.

"Are you stalking me, handsome?" Again, I had no idea where those words came from, but I couldn't bring them back, as I smirked at him.

"Sorry, gorgeous, I'm waiting for someone." He seemed to think he could trick me, but I wasn't letting boys get to me anymore.

"Cool, well, I better get back to my boys. See you around, stranger." I hopped off the counter, but he stepped in front of me, putting us well into each other's personal space. I sucked in a breath as I looked up at his handsome face.

"I didn't catch your name? I'm Walker," he whispered. I smiled.

"Well, Walker, Texas Ranger, I don't believe I gave it. It was nice meeting you."

I side-stepped him and walked off. I was being more bold than before and I was a little too proud of myself. I sat with the boys as Andrew waggled his eyebrows at me. I rolled my eyes. I was staring down at my drink when a napkin slid in front of me. I looked up at Walker.

"My number, in case you decide to tell me your name." He looked up at the sound of a honk and walked out of the diner. I was shell shocked. I had gotten a guy's number without even trying to.

"Oooo, someone's got an admirer!"

"Are you going to call him?"

"How did you meet him? Because you could tell you've met before."

I was being bombarded with questions and comments and I just smiled that I had one upped the guy that was now the topic of conversation.

"We met at the airport and I don't know. He's really cute, though." I shrugged and sighed. My cell went off. I checked the text, which was from Ashton, telling me my mom wanted me home soon. I had been at the diner for almost two hours, discussing with the boys about the party and how their vacations had gone. I told the guys I would see them at the party.
