Chapter Thirty-Nine:
He held me in his strong arms and I let out a sigh as I looked into his gorgeous eyes.
"Zane, you really shouldn't scare me," I laughed, nervously.
"What's going on here?" He asked, looking at everyone behind me.
"Nothing," everyone said in unison and then he looked at me with a raised eyebrow. He looked so hot when he did that with his eyebrow.
"Just some dumb celebrity, is all. No big deal," I said, dismissively.
"I'm a very big deal," came a voice that was too close for my liking.
I cringed at the voice. He was standing right next to us. Zane let me go and slowly sized up Skylar. Skylar was completely oblivious to Zane's glare. Wait, what? I hit Zane and motioned to my empty chair, but he shook his head. I sighed, giving up. I didn't want Zane to fight someone for no good reason.
"What do you want, Sky?" I asked, turning to him with my arms crossed.
"Be in the music video with me, Raven," he said coolly. The arrogant jerk! I can't believe it! He doesn't even apologize for anything and then tells me, not asks, but tells me to do what he wants.
"Let me think about that.... NO!" I said and turned to walk away only to face a grinning Zane. Why is he so damn pleased? I pushed past him, but Sky caught my hand before I could make an escape.
"Look, Tanya really wants you in the video," he pleaded.
I stopped moving.
So, he was only asking because his manager was forcing him to and here I thought he was the one that liked me and wanted to work with me. How stupid was I with my stupid high school crush? I thought as I turned to look at his smug face, it was only inches away from mine. I didn't really care about that because I was beyond pissed!
"Well, Mr. Landon, please inform Tanya that I'm sorry to decline her request, but it's only because she has to manage a big, pompous, arrogant, self-centered jerk!" I yelled in his face. Next thing I was aware of were his lips on mine and it wasn't of my own doing, I can promise you that.
A collective gasp knocked me to my senses and I pulled away and slapped Skylar Landon, world famous singer. Another collective gasp resounded through the school cafeteria, but I was already running down the hallway towards the parking lot. I exited the school and jumped into my car.
I couldn't believe that I had slapped a celebrity, but honestly that jerk deserved it and then some. He really shouldn't have kissed me without my permission, even though it was a rather amazing kiss. I still had butterflies. His lips were oh so soft, too! Wait, that isn't the point! What was my point again?
I pulled up my driveway and parked the car. I rushed into the house, thankful that nobody was home to question why I wasn't in school. I lay down on my bed and tried to push all thoughts of that kiss out of my head. I was close to succeeding when my stomach growled and I remembered having eaten a really light lunch.
I decided to go to Greg's Diner for a little pick-me-up lunch. I pulled into my spot and smiled at the new sign.
'For my one and only bug. This spot is reserved for Ivy Raven Garcia. Trespassers on this here spot will be towed.... or run down by Ivy.'
I laughed as I headed inside. I sat at the counter and was immediately given an orange juice.
"Hey, pretty girl, what's got you down?" he asked, wiping his hands on a rag.
