Chapter Thirty:
He picked up my notebook from the floor, but I couldn't speak. He smiled his gorgeous smile at me and I sighed. All the memories from my time with him flooded back to me as I looked into his sea-blue eyes and I thanked fate for bringing him to me.
"Zane, what are you doing here?" I asked, finally finding my words.
"Oh, you two know each other?" Kali asked. I felt a sudden sense of dread as she stepped closer to him and grabbed his hand in hers. "This is my boyfriend, I moved here to be with him, so he wouldn't be so lonely. The first semester was so lonely without him and I couldn't risk anymore time apart."
I looked between the two, as he smiled down at her. I couldn't believe it. My hand flew to my necklace discreetly, but he noticed. His face turned to a frown as he watched me nervously playing with it. I got tired of his staring and reached up, taking it off and put it in my pocket.
"Hey, gorgeous, what's all the ruckus?" Jaxon came up to me and slipped an arm over my shoulder. I was glad for it and even more glad when Reese walked over and noticed my upset demeanor. Somehow he could always tell when I wasn't in a good mood.
"This is Kali and Zane, guys. They're new." I had mentioned Zane a few times at the diner and Reese could tell he was one in the same. He slipped his hand over mine and gave it a squeeze. I smiled up at him gratefully.
"Raven, there you are! I missed you." Mason came and gave me a hug, not bothering to force the other two off me.
Now, I felt like a slut. Three boys all over me at once. I could tell Zane didn't like it at all. If the scowl on his face was anything to go by.
"Hey, Raven? How are you doing?" Henry asked. Mason released me and pulled Jaxon away to talk about something important. I smiled.
"Now, I really think you're stalking me, Henry." My smile widen when he faked offense.
"I so did not. I told you we had to move in with our other cousin. Hey, James!" I turned to see Gabriel waving to him.
"You mean, Gabe's your cousin? You guys went to Wainwright Academy last semester?" Gabe joined us, smiling.
"Yeah, that place is hell. They've only expelled one girl from there. She's like a legend," Helena added to the conversation, with Devlin right beside her.
"You're looking at the legend, guys," Gabe said, hugging me to him. I blushed.
"You?! You're the friend that he has been telling us so much about? Oh em gee! You're my hero," Devlin said hugging me to her.
"That's what people keep telling me," I said laughing.
"Move it! Let me through!" I heard collective gasps at the girl shoving her way through the group of students. Alicia made her grand appearance black eye and all. I saw her and burst out laughing. I couldn't help it, she just looked so funny.
"Nice shiner you got there, Alicia," Reese said, also laughing.
"Oh my gosh, who did that to you?" Helena asked, concerned for her well-being. So naive.
"This dumb bitch!" Alicia pointed at me and got in my face. "I'm getting tired of you punching me! My dad's trying to transfer me because of you. He thinks I'm being bullied and that I'm lying to him about it."
"Stop acting like such a skag and I won't hit you anymore," I said in a 'duh' voice.
"Mia isn't your friend anymore, Raven." She said it like an insult.
