Chapter Thirty-Six:

I sat there and watched as Dane held Helena's hands in his. He was telling her how much he cared about her and how he hoped that she would go to the prom with him. Everyone clapped when she said yes. Well, it more like she nodded and tackled him while giggling. Love, I just didn't get it. Yes, people were still getting asked to attend the prom. People not including me. Maybe I would just go stag again.

"Well, since everyone is confessing--," Jaxon started, but Alicia stood up on the table a few feet away, holding a bull horn, cutting him off.

"I have to tell everyone something. I'm in love and would like this person to know," she said, I rolled my eyes. Not another one. "Milly Austin, I really care about you, will you go to prom with me?"

Milly Austin was the same Milly that had dated Ashton at one point. My eyes searched the lunchroom for her. She popped up and nodded before shouting a sweet, quiet yes. Who knew that Alicia was a lesbian? I sure didn't see that one coming.

"As I was saying, Henry would you like to go with me to prom?" Jaxon asked and he, of course, returned with a shy yes. He was still shy about openly being with a guy, but Jaxon, with his self-confidence, had absolutely no qualms with it.

"Kali!" I froze as everyone turned to Zane who was holding the bullhorn now. Uh oh! "I can't believe I was so stupid. You were cheating on me with my own cousin, who got you knocked up!" I put my head in my hands and shook it. I hoped he would leave it at that, but of course, he wasn't done with his rant. "To think that I was going to ask you to marry me! I hope you two enjoy each other because you're both backstabbers, who deserve each other." With that he stomped off, with his sister, cousins, and Kali chasing after him. I shook my head again.

"That's why you shouldn't bottle things up," I advised, blandly.

"I've a confession to make," Andrew said. We all looked at him in interest. "I want Raven." I rolled my eyes, my interest instantly dispelled, while the guys said things like 'they already knew that' and 'who wouldn't want me.'

"No, I mean, like I want to be with you, Raven. I think about you all the time and everything reminds me of you. I want to be a better guy for you. A guy you deserve." I stared at my friend, the player. I couldn't believe my ears. Did he really mean what he was saying or was it another ploy to get in my pants?

"You just want in her pants," Reese laughed, slapping him on the back. More likely the latter, apparently.

"I'm serious, guys," Andrew said, indignantly. I wasn't too sure I believed him, despite his indignance.

"Hey, Andrew." A blond bombshell named Marissa sashayed up to the table. "I was wondering if you wanted to do something later, maybe this weekend?" Everyone waited for his response with baited breath.

"Sure, whatever you want, babe." He eyed her over-abundant chest with a smirk.

And there's the Andrew we all know and tolerate.

She smiled at him and handed over her number before walking off in triumph. I rolled eyes at how stupid he was, claiming he wanted me. Ha, the thought was surely laughable.

Then, he realized what he had just done and stood, but I held my hand up to stop him.

"I know how you are and you're my friend, so I accept it. I'm not foolish enough to believe a woman can change a man. A man will change if he finds a good enough reason to." I stood up and walked away just as the bell signaled the end of lunch. Man, I have impeccable timing.

Those sappy love confessions had only happened a few days previous to the day I met him. Well, met is a relative turn in this junction. You see, I thought he was nuts, like loony bin crazy. I was seriously under the assumption that he was an escaped mental patient. He really seemed to be at the time, but now, when I look back at that specific encounter.......No, he really was acting like a nut job.
