Chapter Thirty-Seven:

Just as he was about to answer my question, his cell phone went off. What the heck? Every single time, there's always something to interrupt his answer. I ate my food while he answered his phone.

"Hello.....Yeah....I sent it to you.... Oh, you're here?..... I'll be out in five minutes.....I'm serious this time.....Talk about it later.... Okay, bye." He hung up and looked at me. "I have to go, ladies. Sorry. Dinner was great, thank you, Olivia." She nodded and stood up.

"You're so sweet. You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Raven walk Skylar out to his ride." My mom quickly cleared their empty plates and walked to the kitchen.

"Yeah, 'cause I'm not eating or anything," I grumbled as I watched walk away with my plate. I was almost done, sure, but I really didn't like to waste food. My mom on the other hand didn't care so much. Waster. I walked him outside to a waiting vehicle with really dark tint.

"Well, this was fun. Maybe I'll see you around sometime?" He said as we stopped at the car. I looked up at him and couldn't stop the smile that spread across my face.

"If you say so. I mean, you just might need to be rescued again, you know?" I laughed at my own joke.

"Of course. Then, maybe you should give me your number so I can call you, if I need help," he said, acting suave. Smooth one, Skylar.

"Oh, I see what you did there." I took his cell phone from his open hand and put in my number, saving it under 'Raven- My Heroine,' and handed it back to him. He smiled down at the phone, noticing the name of the saved contact.

"I guess, if you ever need help, you know who to call now," I said, laughing. He nodded and leaned in, quickly kissing my cheek. I was stunned as he got in the car and drove away. I walked inside with my hand on my cheek and went up to my room. That was something new.

Why did I get butterflies when his lips touched my cheek? I couldn't have a crush on Skylar, could I? I just met the guy, though.

I had spent the entire weekend trying to get that Skylar boy out of my head but I couldn't. I kept hoping he would text me or call and I would get excited whenever my phone would ring only to find it was just one of my friends. I was jumpy for two whole days and I hated the feeling, but everytime I would think about Skylar, my brain would take a backseat as my tummy would flutter with butterflies and I would imagine what our kids would look like. I would shake those crazy thoughts away and grumble about the stupidity of crushes. My weekend was, in a word, horrible.

Come Monday morning, everyone was buzzing about the music video and stupid Sky Landon. Otherwise, it was a pretty normal day. Skylar hadn't texted or called me, not once, during the weekend, which had me very convinced that he wasn't ever going to and that kind of disappointed me. I was pretty down even with all the excitement all around me and my friends noticed.

"Why so glum?" Jaxon asked at lunch.

Everyone then stopped their chatter and looked at me, expectantly. I looked at each one of my concerned friends and told them about my crazy Friday. When I was finished with the retelling of the events of my weekend, everyone was completely silent.

"What did he say his name was?" asked Devlin, curiously.

"Skylar," I said, checking my phone for the umpteenth time that day. Stupid crush. I knew that an older guy like him probably had no interest in a high school girl like me, but a girl can dream. Even if the dream was completely unrealistic and totally only happens in the movies.
