Fighting and Freaking

Chapter Twenty-Nine:

Alex glared up at Walker from where he sat on the floor. That's where the fight really started. Alex suddenly lunged at Walker and then they began to tumble around, each of them getting a swing in here and there. Several boys were suddenly there, trying to stop the fight. Alex's date, who I assumed to be Valerie, stopped trying to halt the fight and instead struck up a conversation with Walker's cousin, whose name I still couldn't recall, if I knew her at all.

I walked away from the scuffle and walked past everyone. I didn't want to deal with everyone and I really didn't need to get into any more fights, my hand was still in pain from coming in contact with Alicia's face.

I went to the restroom to freshen up. Why they had a separate men's restroom and a women's, I had no idea, but I went into the women's and sat down on the plush couch to rest my feet.

"Oh, my gosh, I can't believe that," said girl #1.

"What happened?" asked girl #2.

"Well, you know that girl that was on stage!" said another girl (#3).

"Man, she's a good singer. Yeah, what about her?" asked girl #2.

"Well, this boy was talking to Mia and Caleb about her because they were commenting on her singing. Then, he's all like 'who's that babe with the voice' and Caleb got pissed off and said she was off limits. Then the boy asked him if he could dance with Mia and then Caleb only seemed to get more pissed. I swear that boy needs to make up his damn mind. Then Gabriel rides in to rescue Mia. I think Mia and Caleb are going to break up. He's so totally in love with that singer chick," explained girls #1 and #3 together.

I got up and went to check my make up before going back out to the party. I just wished midnight would come already. I was ready to get out of here. I walked out of the bathroom and wandered around the house. I froze when I heard to voices nearing me and ran into the nearest room, silently closing the door behind me.

"I don't know what to do? He's still into her," said a girl. The voices were muffled and I couldn't tell who it was.

"You need to tell him. He has to know." A boy responded, kindly.

"How am I going to tell him? I can't just run up to him and say 'hey, I'm pregnant' besides I only found out today. I had a feeling that I could be and I took a test last week, but it was negative and so I took one today just to make sure and sure enough, I've got a bun in the oven." She sighed.

"You what? When were you going to tell me?" Another voice asked. I guess the baby daddy came looking for his girl.

"I was asking him how to tell you. I just found out today. Hey, get back here!" I heard receding footsteps and then I came out of the room.

I followed them down the hall back to the party. I saw Gabriel standing next to Mia, who was trying to talk to Caleb, he looked angry, but I couldn't hear what they were saying. I shook my head and walked back to the dinner tables. I sat down next to Jackie and huffed out a sigh. A waiter brought me a glass of water and I drank it with reverence.

Man, drama seemed to be everywhere I went. I just couldn't avoid it. Maybe that should be my resolution.

"Alright 30 seconds, people!"

I was standing next to Jackie and Jaxon as the countdown neared. "......25.....20......15.....10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Happy New Year!" Jaxon turned me to him and kissed me. I kissed him back, as per tradition, but our kiss got a bit heated and then I began to blush.
