Chapter Forty-Six:
I walked up to my table and everyone was seated, albeit awkwardly silent, but the girls had pulled Zane away while I schooled those would-be seniors. So, there they sat, awaiting my return. I walked over and saw the only seat available was next to Skylar. Great. I took my seat and waited for someone to speak, but everyone was again waiting for me.
"So, who would like to say their piece?" I asked, looking to Gabe and Kali. It was obvious I was telling them to speak. Kali went to speak first, but Gabe stopped her when I grimaced at her. She had never apologized for acting like she had and Zane had yet to forgive her, which meant I wouldn't either. He may be upset with me, but that didn't mean we weren't friends anymore. At least, not in my book.
"I wanted to apologize to everyone for causing all that drama and I wanted to apologize to my cousin for betraying him. Zane, I know you won't forgive us right away, but we're still family and best friends, I'm really sorry for what happened. I hope you'll forgive me." Gabe was looking to Zane, who spared him a glance. His anger was lost with one look in Gabe's puppy dog eyes. They got up and hugged, like real men, and all was forgiven.
"I forgive you, cousin." It was clear in that one sentence, that he may have forgiven Gabe, but he wasn't any closer to forgiving Kali. She opened her mouth to say her piece to Zane, but he looked to me and I nodded.
"I just wanted--," she began but I stopped her.
"Kali, I already told you this. The truth always comes out. Maybe if you'd been more honest from the start, then we'd all be on better terms. With that said, as Zane's friend and the head of this table, I think I can speak for everyone when I say, if you're going to sit here with Gabe, you should keep your 'wants' to a minimum, meaning do not voice them to us. It's only a week left. I'm sure you can manage that much. Right?" I asked.
I knew I was being mean but I still didn't like her, she had kept Gabe away from us. I was told, by my sources, that he had pleaded with Kali to allow him to apologize but she said she was staying away because of me and my outburst towards her.
"Okay, so are we going to go to the nail salon after school?" Devlin asked breaking the tension. We all nodded and I smiled at my friends. A cough came from my side and I cringed. Damn, I had forgotten he was even here.
"What do you want Skylar? I thought when I ignored your texts and messages, that you would get the not so subtle hint that I didn't want to talk to you," I said as I turned my best glare on him. His confidence visibly shrunk. Good to know that he was aware of the deep shit he was in.
"I just wanted to apologize about the other night," he started to say.
"Which part? The part where the girl you claimed to hate showed up and ruined our date by inserting herself in your lap? Or was it the part where you ignored me, your date, and paid more attention to her inane stories about her 'terrible weeks' since leaving Texas and the video shoot? OR were you just apologizing for when she stuck her tongue down your throat while I was standing right there?!" I had gotten progressively louder and everyone's mouth was hanging open. They had been there, but that hadn't known everything that had gone down.
"You're the one that was leaving in the middle of our date," he lamely shot back. I lifted a brow.
"Oh, so standing to get some air away from you and your celebrity date, counts as leaving. I wasn't going to leave, but then you let her suck your face! Besides, why would I want to sit around while that girl threw herself at you and thrust her chest in MY date's face? At least I didn't pull Jaxon down into the seat and straddle him, like she did to you." Some of it was a lie, but he didn't need to know that.
