Of course, it started with a small mistake. Patton simply had typed in some wrong numbers which lead him to texting someone other than the intended person.
P: Princess
Logan had picked up his phone, confusion set on his features when he set down his book to reply.
L: who is this?
Patton knew immediately this had been wrong when he got the reply, he checked the numbers and knew he messed up.
P: sorry wrong number
Logan fought the urge to correct the lack of grammar and punctuation. Though, seeing as he had already read the book multiple times, talking to someone didn't seem so bad.
L: Come back, I will be your 'princess'.
Patton let himself laugh at that, finding whoever happened to be the person he texted adorable. He couldn't help himself from replying.
P: we will meet again, in another life.
Logan could only chuckle at that. Of course, there were many theories on the after life, many different religious beliefs on the after life, but science hadn't found anything concrete. So he simply typed what he believed a fictional princess would.
L: I love you.
Patton found the adoration endearing. And simply replied back to his 'princess' as if he were a prince.
P: I love you too, princess.
Patton finally went back to his first objective, texting his boyfriend when he finally got the correct numbers in -double checking this time- he texted.
P: Dolos?
The reply was instantaneous, even if a bit angry.
D: Took you long enough. It was certainly hard to type in the numbers.
Patton could hear the sarcasm, the bout of a lie that his boyfriend couldn't seem to stop.
P: sorry, dear. I accidentally messed up a number.
Of course, Dolos (who by now you all know is deceit and props to my friend for getting me the name, i struggled in finding one myself) thought. How like Patton.
D: it is alright, dear. I will be over in a few.
Patton set his phone aside and stood up. His apartment was a mess from the last time his boyfriend was over, having been too hurt to actually do anything before. He immediately went to work on cleaning.
It wasn't that much time after everything was straightened out when a knock sounded. Patton fixed the cardigan around his shoulders amd opened the door with a bright smile, despite his boyfriends snake like glare.
"Heyo, Dolos!" He opened the door wider for his boyfriend to step in, which Dolos did. The door clicked shut and then Dolos turned to Patton.
"Where is your phone?" Dolos asked venomously. "Bring it to me."
Patton gave a shakier smile this time. "Did something happen, dear?" He asked, though still proceeding to his room with Dolos on his heels. Dolos snatched the phone from Pattons hand, seeing the conversation Patton had with Logan.
"What is this?" Dolos turned the phone to Patton, his eyes dangerous, but his voice terrifyingly calm.
"The number I accidentally texted instead of you," Patton replied honestly. "It doesn't really mean anything."
Dolos's eyes narrowed, catching onto the lie at the end. "It doesn't, huh?"
Patton shrugged, looking away from his boyfriend. "Not romantically. It was fun though, how the person replied." He admitted, looking back to Dolos.
Dolos was, suffice to say, beyond pissed. "You were flirting with someone else." He stated, voice hard and cold. A resounding slap broke a small silence, glasses hitting the floor. Pattons hand automatically went up to his cheek, pain evident in his expression. (Shit, I did it. I might cry. Oh gods, I'm hurt at my own writing.)
"I... I swear, Dolos, it... It wasn't like that!" Patton stuttered out timidly, fighting back tears. (I am too, Pat. I am too.) "Dolos, I love you. Only you."
Dolos's yellowish green eyes narrowed. "Not according to this text, darling. You are mine, only mine."
°°°°°°°Skipperoni cause that one slap was enough to make me never want to make angst again°°°°°°°
Patton knew it wasn't safe for his friends to find the marks, he had learned quite quickly how to cover up. Especially after a small argument with his most boisterous friend, Roman, which lead to Dolos finding out and giving more marks Patton had to hide.
He was glad though, that he wouldn't have that much time after the play he'd be attending to talk to Roman. If he was lucky, Roman would see him in the seats and he'd get home early before Dolos. Unfortunately, luck did not seem to be on his side.
After the play, Roman caught up with Patton, a huge grin on his face. "Padre! You have to meet someone!" Roman gave no time for an answer as he grabbed Pattons wrist, missing the wince, and starting off. Patton had no choice but to follow.
Patton was certainly confused though, ignoring the pain in his wrist amd focusing on his friend who seemed to be much happier than usual. Not that Patton thought that was bad, of course, just confused beyond belief.
Roman stopped them when they got backstage, letting go of Patton to pull a man in black close to him. "Patton! This is my dark prince, Virgil! Virgil, this is my amazing friend, Patton!"
Virgil grumbled and shoved Roman off with a scowl that Patton could tell held fondness for the boisterous male. "Yeah, I kinda figured Princey. You don't have many friends."
Roman put a hand to his heart with a faked mock gasp, the smile on his face giving away that he knew it was a joke. "How dare!"
Patton laughed at their antics, a small pang in his heart. Why couldn't his relationship be like this? "Well, certainly nice to meet you, kiddo! You two already seem amazing together!"
Roman looked at his friend with worry, the second sentence holding much more emotion than just happiness. "Pat... Did D-"
"No." Patton lied, immediately, quickly. "I'm fine. I'm just glad to meet Virgil!" He plastered on a big smile, turning to the darkly dressed male.
Virgil gave Patton a small nervous smile. "I don't really think that's something to be glad about..." He said quietly.
"Virgil, we have talked about this," Roman chastised.
"Right, right," Virgil rolled his eyes. "Nice to meet you too, Patton. Roman's told me a lot."
Neither of them noticed the small amlunt of alarm that showed in his eyes at that. "Oh? He did?" Patton looked at Roman, gauging and deciding that he hadn't said anything about Dolos.
The three spent a few more hours together, Patton forgetting about his 'curfew', having too much fun with the other two. Though, when he looked at his phone, his heart practically stopped. There were missed calls and plenty of texts from his boyfriend.
"Sorry, kiddos, gotta go!" Patton gave the two a big fake smile and a wave. "Let's hang out again some other time!"
The two watched as Patton went off and back home. "That was a fake smile." Being the only thing said between the two, the voice being the darker males.
°°°Let's go inside, shall we?°°°
Patton opened the door slowly, quietly, afraid of what would happen if he made noise. He flinched at the small click when the door closed behind him, quietly walking into his living room. He slowly relaxed, sure he was out in the clear.
"Where were you?" The voice was sharp, cold, and freightening. Patton turned slowly, looking at Dolos. "Answer me."
"I went to Romans play... I told you..." He said slowly, hands clasping in front of him to keep them from shaking.
"Then you would've been home hours ago." Dolos stated harshly, walking up to Patton and hitting him, causing Patton to whimper softly. "What exactly were you doing?!"
Patton tried to shrink back, only for his wrist to be gripped tightly, making the male wince. "Roman introduced me.... Introduced me to his... His boyfriend." Patton stuttered out, terrified. "I.. I... I wasn't paying attention to the... The uh... The time."
Dolos hissed at him, snake like. (I couldn't help myself.) "You weren't paying attention?! Because you were having fun without me?!" He snaps, glaring at Patton who only tried to shrink more.
"I... I was with Roman and his boyfriend, Dolos... Of course I had fun with my friend..." He said softly, worried about angering Dolos more. "I... I didn't mean to stay so late..."
"You didn't mean to...?" He said coldly, clearly not believing Patton. "Of course, you didn't mean to, just as I don't mean it when i show you how useless you are!" Another hit, another whimper and this time, Patton wretched out of Dolos's grip, tears stinging his eyes.
"I can't... I can't do this anymore!" His voice was cracking along with his heart. "I... Can't..."
Dolos sneered at Patton. "Like anyone else would love you," he said scornfully. "Look at you! You're pathetic!"
Patton hiccuped on a sob, tears running down his face at this point. (DAMN IT MY HEART KICKED IN! FEEL NOTHING HEART LET ME HURT PATTON IN PEACE!) "Why..." He whispered softly, voice cracking.
Dolos shoved Patton brutally, causing Patton to trip and fall harshly to the wooden floor with a resounding thump. "You're weak, pathetic, useless. You can't even get home on time," Dolos hissed as Patton scooted away. He stepped on Patton's ankle, stopping him as Patton cried out. "You can't do anything right." His foot went off Pattons ankle only to deliever a swift kick to Pattons abdomen. It was a few hours before Dolos left Patton, bruised and in pain, alone. "You better be here tomorrow."
It was still far more time before Patton painstakingly got himself up and stumbled to his bedroom, laying down with a wince. He couldn't text Roman, who is likely to be spending time with his boyfriend and that's when he looked through his texts, seeing the one from when he messed up texting his boyfriend a while ago.
P: Hello...?
Logan certainly wasn't expecting the text, jumping slightly when his phone went off. He looked at the time and cursed himself under his breath, he had stopped paying attention when reading again, lost in the world of the book. He sighed and picked up his phone, a small smile gracing his lips when he saw who had texted him. The mysterious 'prince'.
L: Salutations, prince. How are you?
Patton let a small pained smile grace his own lips at seeing 'prince'.
P: I am uhh... Not actually doing all that well. I didn't know who text so... I'm sorry, if this bothers you.
Logan frowned down at the reply, worry eating at him.
L: no, you are not bothering me. What is wrong? Though you do not have to answer.
P: my boyfriend uh...
Patton tool a deep breath, deciding that he didn't care anymore.
P: he beat me...
Logan hadn't expected that response, sitting up atraight as he read it over. The first thought that came to Logans mind was why would someone want to hurt a person who seems to have such good humour?
L: do you need help? You should probably be calling the cops or an ambulance.
Patton smiled at the text. He was a stranger to this person and yet they were worried about him.
P: I... Should be fine. It isn't the first time. My names Patton by the way. I just realized I never told you.
Logan sighed, accepting that the stranger-Patton- wouldn't get help.
L: I am Logan. May I ask why you haven't tried to break up with your boyfriend yet?
Patton chuckled bitterly at the question. Of course he had tried and it was not pretty, which is why he stopped talking to Roman about it, started lying to Roman about it.
P: I have tried. It doesn't end well.
Logan definitely wished he could help. (I wish I could've found a way to make this shorter, holy shit.) He didn't exactly know how he could, though.
L: I see. Is there anything I may be able to do?
P: talking. Talking is great right now.
Pattons immediate reply made Logan smile and he did just that... For hours.
°°°I have a lot of skips in here, oops°°°
Patton had finally healed up enough to accept an invitation out. He would be hanging out with Roman, Virgil and one of Virgil's friends. Patton made sure the bruises were covered, that his clothes were straight and that he could walk without showing pain, then he left, meeting up at the coffee shop a block away.
Patton immediately walked to the corner booth when Roman waved him over. "Padre! Thank you for joining us!" Roman was seated next Virgil, leaving Patton to sit next to the mysterious and attractive stranger.
The stranger looked at Patton, pushing up his glasses. "Salutations, I am Logan." He held out his hand politely for a hand shake.
Patton was shocked for a second, though surely this wasn't the same Logan he had talked to... Right? "Nice to meet you, Logan! I'm Patton!" Patton shook his hand vigorously, smiling wide.
Logan was taken aback, staring at Patton for a bit longer than he should've, earning a teasing kick from Virgil. "Apologies." He muttered, scooting over for Patton to sit, which he did.
At one point in the conversation, Roman and Virgil started a small quarrel. Logan leaned over to Patton, taking the chance to whisper to him. "Prince?"
The look Patton gave him said it all and Logan gave him a smile, taking his hand under the table in a friendly manner. "Thank you..." Patton said softly, giving Logan a genuine smile, the first genuine smile he'd had in a while.
°°°another fucking skip. Fight me°°°
Patton had finally finally had enough. He was done being broken, he was done being used, he was done being physically hurt, so he finally listened to what his friends were telling him to do. He told Dolos they were done, it was over. That he never wanted to see Dolos again, then hung up before he got a response. Patton was shaking, tears running dowm his cheeks, but he'd get over it. That was until he saw the text.
D: I will be right over.
××××××Haha... Thats not the actual ending my darlings~ heres your extended ending~××××××
Patton woke up with a jolt, the body in the bed next to him groaning at the movement. "Im sorry... I didn't... I didn't mean to wake you up..." He said softly.
"You can always wake me up, Pat," came the sleepy reply, the person sitting up and gently pulling Patton close. "Nightmare?"
Patton nodded and buried his head in the persons chest. "I'm sorry..." Pattom said softly, making the person shake their head.
"Patton, don't worry about it. It's in the past now, I will protect you." He said it with such conviction that Patton smiled up at him and lissed him sweetly.
"Thank you, Logan. I love you," Patton said happily, cuddling into him.
"I love you too, Pat." Logan said softly, laying back down with Patton close to his side.
